Well, it wasn't a bicornuate uterus like I was thinking, but it's actually a uterine septum. For an explaination of the differences and what that actually means go to this link:

So, I get to have surgery. The doctor that's at that office has a 2 month waiting docket for surgery, but my midwife is going to try to talk him into getting me in next week biggrin.gif She's so awesome! She really wants me to be able to have a baby in 2007, which gives me 2, maybe 3 cycles left to do that. She thinks it'd be nice to have a 2003, 2005, and then a 2007 baby. So, pretty much this cycle is out with the surgery. The catheter will have a balloon on it, so no unprotected sex this cycle at all. They are also going to do a laparascopy at the same time to check on the endo and take care of that if it's gotten out of hand and they want to try to open that left tube if possible.

The midwife is having their office manager call today to get it pre-approved with my insurance and then hopefully, I'll be able to get in for surgery next Tuesday.

Oh, and my progesterone came back at 13, so that means I for sure ovulated and had a good ovulation. 10 is where it needs to be for a sure ovulation; a little below and you may have ovulated, but not strong enough. So, I at least ovulated this cycle, doesn't mean I am every cycle, but they caught it this time. It was also drawn at 5dpo when the most accurate result is drawn at 7dpo (so for a perfect ovulation day of 14, cd21 would be 7dpo and cd21 is when docs usually just automatically have the blood drawn). So, it probably would have been higher at 7dpo than it was, so it was a really strong ovulation.

Well, you've demerined the problem. that puts you one step closer. I pray that your surgery will go well. Then I pray for you bfp. I go for my HSG today, and I'm getting nervous about it. I know I haven't been here long, and I'm still trying to get to know everyone. Would you mind telling me how long you have been trying and your situation up til now? Maybe I can accually get a thread going on this...

Good luck with your surgery - I will keep you in my prayers. And hooray for finding out that you did, indeed, ovulate. That's just good to know, isn't it?

I went in to my midwife (never been to her before) after we had been trying for 8 cycles. I had already been diagnosised with endometriosis prior to this. Since it had taken that long and I knew that it could cause problems with fertility I decided to go in before the standard year mark of trying. I was also having shorter lp's usually about 10 days long. Before when I was trying, my lp's were 12 days, so this was different for me.

She discussed that I might want to be on progesterone once I do get pg and that using progesterone cream once I know for certain that I ovulated could help to lengthen the lp. She didn't want me to do it the first cycle as I was going to have cd21 bloodwork done (progesterone level check) to see if I ovulated or not. She also sent me for a HSG. The HSG is where I learned that I had a weird shaped uterus and that's what I discussed with my midwife yesterday. I'm currently on my 10th cycle of trying this go around. My left tube is also blocked.

I'm kinda surprised that this is the first time that the septum has been noticed as I've been pg three times previously. My midwife explained to me that the septum may not be too large, so it didn't really interfer before, but now since I've had two full term pregnancies that my uterus might not be as elastic and is allowing the septum to droop down into my uterus more than it did previously. She also said that it may have played an impact on my miscarriage. If an egg implants on the septum, it won't be able to get enough blood supply as it's not the same as the rest of the uterus, it's more fiberous. Also, if an egg implants on the outside wall, but up near the septum, it could cause problems as the septum isn't as stretchy and may not move much which would mean the egg wouldn't have room to grow for too long before being squished. She also told me that septums don't show up on regular ultrasounds too well.

One thing I forgot to ask is why it didn't show up on my previous lap, but I supposed that could have just been that it was a different doctor looking at it and he may have just missed it since it wasn't as pronouced then as that was just after one full term baby.

I had pain/cramping during and then that night the pain was fairly severe. I was fine the next day, well mostly, still a little cramping, but not bad.
