On Tuesday, after it had been raining all weekend, our sump pump broke.
We had to get it replaced.

On Wednesday, totally unrelated to the sump pump, sewer water started backing up into our basement.
Roto Rooter came and was here all day yesterday and couldn't fix it. But of course they billed us anyway.

As I sit here and type this, the city and the plumber is out in my back yard with a back hoe, digging up the ground to replace the sewer pipe that apparently broke. We have sewer water standing in our basement. It's only a couple inches...but OMG...it's sooooooooooooooooo disgusting I can barely stand it.

We cannot use any of our plumbing.

That's right.

NONE of it.

I won't go into further disgusting details.

I'm hoping they get it fixed. The plumber said that he thinks they can get it done today.

Please Lord....

Well here's the latest....

The plumbers were here all day Friday and didn't get it fixed. They're here again right now working on it again. Hopefully it will be done by the end of the day.

The city is the one who clogged up our pipe - with asphalt!!! (Loooong story, I won't bore you with the details) and they are saying that they are NOT going to pay for all of this.

The grand total will probably be somewhere around $10,000. Ok sure, let me just go get that off of my money tree. Come on people!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I haven't been online much the last week. We're stressed and completely overwhelmed. This is just the icing on the cake, we've had a really bad 4 months or so, where one (major) thing breaks after another.

I cried all the way to work on Saturday because I just couldn't handle it. Pretty much did the same thing yesterday, on the way to visit family. It was a long drive LOL

But I'm feeling a wee bit better now, even though I'm still stressed.

We're calling a lawyer today to see what our options are. I'll let him know about my money tree as well.
