Hey Pauline,
I started temping after 6 months of ttc, and I like it. I don't do anything else, cause I have no clue what to do- ie opk's, cm checking, furking, saliva tests, vitamins (except folic acid), primrose, agnus cactus, grapefruit juice, etc. We bd when dh gets randy, lol.
I was surprised at how straight forward it was (except this month). A low temp means you're in the beginning of your cycle, ie before ovulation. My temp rises a day or two after ovulation has already taken place, and stays high until the day before af arrives (unless I'm pg, in which case it stays high).
So temping doesn't tell you when to bd, because you don't see a change in temp until it's too late. But, it's really nice knowing that you've ovulated that cycle, and you get a warning before af arrives.
If you do decide to temp, make sure you get a thermometer with two decimal places, as the temp rise is quite subtle, usually .3 degrees or so. I keep a notepad beside my bed to record the temperatures, cause you're supposed to take the temperature before you get out of bed at the same time each morning.
It might take a couple of months before you start noticing a pattern, and I hope you get your bfp before that!!!! You probably already know all this stuff, and I'm just a big show-off, know-it-all, lol. What can I say, I'm obsessed and I want other people to join the madness, lol!!!
