How does moonlight affect womens cycles? in teh 70's one woman louise lacey found literally hundreds of anthropologic sources indicating that non tech cultures world wide expected women to menstruate at the dark new moon. Since menstruation follows Ovulation by about 2 weeks such women were most fertile around the time of the bright full moon.

She experimented with nitetime lighting conditions to see if she could simulate the effects of moonlight.and the cycle changes documented by other researchers. She discovered that by the 3rd or 4th cycle of light regulation cycles shortened and heavier.the mucus pattern grew more distinct instead of creamy and confusing. These changes were a boon to lacey, asince her cycles had been highly erratic after the bc pill.
Now for the technique

Day 1 first day of AF
day 1-13 sleep in total darkness. block out all window and door way light. Use a red photgrahic bulb for light if needed during the nite.
Nights 14-16 Sleep with a dim light on all nite.(nite light, closet light with the door partly closed,or dim hall light)
during the rest of the cycle sleep in total darkness again.

light regulation can be most helpful when the cycles are irregul or have long patches of creamy confusing mucus. (keeping a regular eating and sleeping pattern helps to keep cycles regular as well.) It is thought that sleeping in the darkness influences the pineal gland to secrete melatonin the horomone which inhibits the events leading to ovulation.Light at nite shuts off melatonin production,so Ovulation proceeds.
