I am sitting here staring out the window at "Trigger" the horse who would probably like some more hay. They know when it's feeding time. Last night worked an eight hour shift on the dreaded grave-yard and had one delivery. Went quite well for a my pts first baby. I honestly thought we would be headed to "the back" - meaning the OR. She was stuck at 6cm for quite a while and her water had been broke since early that morning - we're going past 14 hrs here and I knew those little bacteria bugs were just waiting to cause me some problems. But just before any high fevers could strike I got her on her side so she could rotate well enough for that baby to make some change to the cervix. Nicely done if I do say so. An hour later she was complete and then pushed for 20 minutes - TADA nice fresh baby boy! I felt a little sad for the pt though, she was young and her husband was in Iraq - just recently deployed. So he wouldn't get to come home until Oct. You know. It is funny how that worked. I live around Ft. Bragg for 15 years and depending on the unit and "who you are" you can come home for you wifes delivery. If you are Special Forces or one of those higher end operators you get those "perks.' If your a lower enlisted grunt you get absolutely nothing. Sucks.
The girls are still a little sore today - but who knows, could just be the PMS stuff. Though I do notice that I am not very hungry. I get super famished for McDonald's towards the great and horrible period. ANd yes I did see "Super Size Me." But I do so love those tasty Mcgriddles. Yum! Anyways - more work tonight. Waiting for my brother and wife to come in to deliver the "twins" any day now......Hee, hee, say goodbye to that super clean house of your's Jody - those days are over!
