I started my first round of Clomid Sunday and I was told by my doc that she would only put me on it for three cycles.
I was also told that women usually dont get preg the first month on clomid, but the 2nd month is more promising.
Any other thoughts? What have you experienced or heard from others that have taken it?

OH - and antoher thing, my doctor told me to take Mucinex (sp) 2 tablets twice a day until I get preg - she said that since clomid makes your CM thicker the Mucinex will make it thin and more acceptable of those little swimmers...anyone else doing this?

Hi.

Have you thought about using Pre Seed as well? Pre Seed is a sperm friendly lubricant. It's great!

I've heard of women taking Robitussin which has Guanefisin that can help thin out the mucus.

When my midwife prescribed Clomid, which I never used, lol, she too said she would not give me more than three month's worth.

I used Fertility Blend which has Vitex in it and it seemed to have made my fertile mucus less so I was thinking if my body is that sensitive, then I can imagine how Clomid would dry me up so that was one of the reasons I decided not to.

Would your husband do an IUI while you use Clomid?

I think he would do anything if it would come down to that. I guess we will just see what this first round brings us and then go from there. Thanks for your suggestions!

Hi there!

I'm on round #3 of clomid. My issue is that I wasn't O'ing, and I (so far) have only O'd once on clomid (still hoping I will O this time).
Regarding not getting pg on the first round--I can't say I have heard that, but for me, the first month I really didn't know what to expect (O'd late and missed it!). I have a friend who, after TTC for awhile, found out she didn't O and got pg with DS on round 2. Then her next pg, she took clomid again, and got pg on the first round with DS & DD (twins!).

I've been taking Mucinex this month--it's much more convenient than the Robitussin, but more expensive, but essentially, the Guafinasen (sp?) is in both products--it thins out mucus (my allergist had me take Mucinex as I was getting over some asthma issues to help with the mucus in the lungs). I've also used Pre-Seed too.

Since I'm on my third cycle, I am getting a little nervous. My OB/Gyn increased my dose this month to 100mg and said he would give me one more cycle after this before referring me to a RE (so he would give me 4 cycles on clomid).

Good luck! :-)

Clomid #1: 50mg--no labs drawn
Clomid #2: 50 mg, Progesterone Level: 0.6
Clomid #3: 100mg--no labs drawn
Clomid #4: 100mg, Progesterone Level: 6.6
Clomid #5: 150mg, Progesterone Level: 10.8
Break from Clomid due to finding out DH S/A showed poor morphology (0-4%).
Repeat S/A on 2/7 and Urologist appointment on 2/21: Results showed abnormally high sperm count, so when that is taken into consideration, the morphology is normal.
First RE appointment: 3/17

I am also on my third round of clomid. First cycle I didn't O. Second cycle o'd late and think I missed it. This time used opks and preseed also some mucinex. They increased my dose on round 2 to 100mg and now we are in the 2ww for round three. Ihope all goes well for you and I also believe the first cycle it is less likely to get a bfp but it does happen for people. Hope it works for you!
