I'm kinda new to this forum, but I have a question about having a sonohysterogram done. I've been TTC for about 9-10 months and my doctor said he felt a small fibroid. He ordered a sonogysterogram next month. I know they use saline to look inside the uterus. Does the procedure hurt at all and how soon after can you have sex? I think I'm having it done near the time I ovulate (like a day or two before). Also, will this procedure be able to tell if my tubes are open or will it help clear any debris/blockage?

Hello. Welcome to our board. I am your host. I had a sono HSG done last month. Did not hurt at all...I took 800 mg of ibuprofon before I went and you will get to watch on the screen how the fluid flows into your uterus and tubes. I did have some discharge afterwards but nothing serious. And I was able to have sex shortly after. However I was clear no issues with my sono HSG. Best of luck to you. Let us know how it goes.

Jena

I had this done about 3 years ago after trying to concieve for 16 months.

They did end up finding a problem (one side blocked - unicornuate uterus) BUT I got pregnant with my daughter the next month (she will be 2 in December).

My doctor mentioned before I had it done that it is common to get pregnant after having it done for some reason.

It didn't hurt, but was a bit uncomfortable.

Good luck!
