So I'm sure you all are waiting patiently for my RE appt. update/info, right?!? Here's the post you've all been waiting for.

I woke up earlier than the alarm and was feeling nervous and sick!! When I get nervous/anxious I have to pee and pee hahaha So DH and I left early to go get an ATM, since we don't have insurance we were paying with cash. Of course on the way there the gas light comes on, so I was freaking. We made it to the street and had the hardest time looking for the building number, we got lost. Come to find out it was the BIG medical plaza building, which they just forgot tell me on the phone. Grrr, oh well. I am one of those ppl who has to be early and not late, and I was worried we were late. Get into the office and fill out some basic paperwork. Their musical clock went off at 9 and it scared us, it was a loud musical clock, never seen one like it before. It played Campton Racers (sp?) We were the only ones in the waiting room and finally the Doc called us back. Woohoo.

We go into his office. I handed him the folder with my charts and cycle history data in. He looked through each of my charts and said Well it seems as though you do ovulate according to your temperatures/charts. Then he asked if I used any ovulation predictors. I told him both the salvia scope and the pee kits. He then said those match up with your temperatures for when you ovulate. Next he starts asking us questions about each of our personal medical histories. He typed the answers on his MacBook Pro, which I thought was awesome. (DH and I love Apples!) Next he asked about both of our family histories and medical histories, including fertility, etc. He then said well you both are healthy, young, adults with no family histories of issues. He even asked how are we dealing with this emotionally. Which I was surprised about!

Then he moved on to discussing what the possible problems/issues may be....he discussed about sperm count, mobility; uterine environment such as endometriosis; blocked tubes; PCOS; ovulation; hormones and pituitary gland. He then discussed what he would like to do and for us to do.

We told him we don't have insurance which opened a soft spot for him; as he said that he'll do the SA himself, that the lab gives a discount for his cash paying patients and that for the next visit he'll waive the fee. He said that, unless we tell him otherwise, this is the route he'd like to take with us. Doing a SA on DH. On cycle day 3, this next cycle I have to have a lot of hormonal blood work and thyroid lab work done on me. He wants me to call when my period shows up to see him that day or next for an ultrasound and then he will put me on fertility drugs, either Clomid or Femara, not sure which yet, then I'll need to go back for another ultrasound to see if it's causing cysts; if i'm pregnant or to take it the next cycle. He said that we'll try the drugs for about 6 months, and he believes that it should/probably will work and that we should get pregnant, but if there is another more severe/serious problem that hasn't been tested, as in blocked tubes or something then he said we'll do the more serious testing/procedures such as HSG and maybe even laproscopy to check for endometriosis or something. If there's a more serious problem then IUI and IVF may be necessary, but he doesn't want to go that route yet obviously, since we're young and healthy, he believes and thinks it's just a tiny lil fix that the fertility drugs should correct. And if the Blood work/SA have bad results or something, he'll most likely change or add something to the plan. DH & I agreed that this plan/route sounds great and is fine with us.

Overall, we were impressed, considering our last appt. He was smart, caring, understanding and had a sense of humor! ANd of course that he was assertive in starting treatment, even before doing testing and getting the results back!! We continue to pray and hope that this plan/route will help and that nothing else is wrong. We pray that this will work and we will become pregnant! I feel so relieved from the appt and the route we will be following/doing now. Dh is relieved and happy too, but of course a lil worried of his SA typical guy!!

Sounds like a GREAT and SENSITIVE dr! (those can be hard to find sometimes!!!)

I'm happy for you--this sounds like a great plan and I bet you will be PG really soon!!!!

Just out of curiousity--how long did you TTC before going to an RE?

We are only on our 3rd cycle TTC--but it took me 9 months to conceive my DD. (not with my DH now.)

I'm getting impatient and it's making me a little nuts!

Thanks, yea I know what you mean about those kinds of docs being hard to find. I didn't know what to expect but I was very pleased!!! I really, really hope I get pg soon!

Well...we've been officially TTC for almost a year, 10 months, I'm on cycle #13 though because of short cycles....but we have been BD without contraceptive for almost 2 years.

I'm sorry you're impatient and I know how that feels!! Hang in there!!
