(Sorry this is long… I wanted it for my own memories)
Gavin made me wait for over a week of being dilated to 4 cm and finally making it to 5cm on wed (and being sent home!!) I finally had Gavin on Thurs, Aug 26 at 1:20 in the afternoon.
As many of you had said, when he comes he will come fast… he did!!
Got to the hospital at 11am (and I wasn’t sure if I should go and almost went for a long walk instead)
They were not sure if i would stay I was 5-6cm
After 40 mins on monitor they said I could stay… thank goodness!!
called Dh at 11:40.. i was staying and in pain by this point
Extreme contractions til 12:35 in triage.. got iv I was GSB pos
12:45 got to go to room... I was in agony and want that epidural as soon as possible
12:50 epidural man came and started ( the nurse said she though I was already 10cm)... IV fell out
12:55 DH got there
1:10 epidural in but needed another more time to actually work….. I was 10CMs
1:12 water broke (Epidural started taking the edge off but not in real effect at all yet)
The nurse was on the phone calling for help… she didn’t have a chart for me yet, the table wasn’t made into a delivery bed yet, I didn’t have a new IV yet and she said the baby is coming soon!!!
Dr arrived… I pushed four times (was told to slow down cus I was going to rip so bad)
1:20 Gavin was born... was almost natural labour,,, felt almost every thing!
Had to be frozen for them to do stiches because I could feel it all
Gavin Leo was born 1:20pm Thurs Aug 26.... 7 pounds 13 ozs... 21 1/2 Inches long (I think they measured wrong though cus the drs at 12 days he was only 19 ľ inches)
he unlike my experience with his brother was born screaming and apgar of 9/9!!! he is mucusy cus he came out so fast but other than that he did great
They said it was a good thing he came when he did cus his placenta had started to rip off the wall, thankfully I didn’t know there was a partial abruption til he was already out cus I would have had a heart attack
At his well baby check up on Sunday we found out that he had jaundice, wasn’t pee enough and had lost 13% of his body weight
We were readmitted and had to stay for 4 days…. It was a long 4 days and feeding was so stressful cus I had to breastfeed him and then finger feed him with a tube… he didn’t want the food and I felt terrible basically pouring food down his throat as he looked at me wanting me to stop.. but he was not peeing at all at this point and if he didn’t have a pee in the next 8 hours they would need to give him an IV or feeding tube… thankfully at the 7.5 hour make he peed
3.5 days under the lights and his jaundice was at an acceptable level and he got to come out from the lights but they were worried about a fever.. thankfully after monitoring it closely it turned out to be nothing
He is home now and growing!!!
Congrates if you made it through all of that!
