How often do you get out with your SO? I think DH and I really need to make time for just us...away from the house, without the kids, but it just never seems to happen. Partly because right now, we have a lot going on. Plus, with 4 kids, it gets expensive quick paying for a sitter. I'll admit, DH and I have been out on a "date" without the kids 1 time since Caleb was born, and the time before that was our anniversary 6-8-09. Pathetic. Sure, we've been out places, but always with the kids. No alone time to speak of. Anyway, what do you guys do to get out? I need ideas

I think last time DH and I went out kidless was for my bday in march and we went to the casino overnight.
We dont go out much alone because we have no one to leave the kids with.

DH and I are leaving kids with my parents and going to a MLS soccer game in a couple weeks. Totally excited!! We aren't going to be horribly far away...just an hour and a half ferry ride away. This doesn't happen often but I'm very excited.
Last time we were kidless, it was our anniversary and we went out for dinner and then went home.
I think usually when we get out, it's a sporting event or dinner, a movie, a friends' party, a staff party (DH and I work together and the company we work for usually throws a couple staff parties a year), or for things like grad reunions, etc.
DH's sister actually tells us that we should go out more so she can babysit so we're pretty lucky there. Our kids are the only grandkids on both sides.

Dh and I try to get alone time at least once a month. My mom had orginally said she would take MaryBeth every other week, but with the way things have been going it just hasn't happened. But we have a daycare that MaryBeth loves to go to if we just wanted alone time on weekdays.

DH's parents live in the same town as us, and so does his sister who is 28. She is recently single so is more than willing to watch the girls whenever. Just last night she watched them while we went for dinner and drinks w/ another couple. Next weekend my mom is coming to watch them because we are going to DC to stay w/ my sister and go watch our friend who fights for UFC. The following weekend his parents are watching them while we go to a wedding. It's never ending!!!
We are super fortunate that his family is near and my mom loves to come visit and take care of them.

for a long while, we were going out every friday night to dinner @ the country club my dh belongs too, but then things exploded ( total understatement) with my stupid side of the family and we really never got back to doing it. part of it is b/c my sis isnt allowed to speak to us, much less come over.. so the only other option is a friends kids, which to be quite honest is a little unfair to me in how we pay. so i havnt pushed it. but we NEED to soon!! but when we do get to spend time, its nice that its family time for us still.
jamie, if i lived closer!!! i would only charge you a bottle of that wine with the housewife name b/c i want some and still cant get it! lol

Occasionally. We went out for my birthday in July and I feel like we did once after that as well. my IL's had the kids for an overnight when we went to a wedding. She is taking them again on the 8th when I throw a surprise party for DH's birthday at our house. We went to Florida for 3 days without them, which was great - no clocks, no schedules, just us and nothing to stress us out!
But before that it had been months - before July I would say it was before we had Isla, maybe even before I got pregnant!

Out of the house alone? Pretty much never. We've been out without DS 4 times ever. We have no family near us and there's only one other couple here we trust to babysit (and she's going to give birth any day now). This doesn't bother us at all. We just take Aiden wherever we go, just throwing him on one of our backs in a baby carrier (works great when we go to the base club on the weekend to play pool or watch UFC fights).

We hardly ever go out alone. Maybe once every 2 months. We have a babysitter-she is 12 and great with my older 4 but I don't dare leave Macie with her too. So we will get one of my friends to watch Macie. Usually we don't go out mainly because my DH works the swing shift and works weekends a lot so he just isn't here to go out with And our whole money situation is tough-we hate to pay a babysitter! Even though she only charges $1 an hour per kid but with 4 kids it adds up quickly!

Well Mike and I haven't been together super long and we almost always take Ryder with us wherever we go... but we did go out just us for my birthday and then the following weekend we were supposed to go to a party but due to some recent drama I didn't feel right drinking so we just went to Applebee's and then rented a movie and went back to his place to watch it. We didn't want to not go out since we still used the sitter... but anytime we want a night for just us I can leave him with anyone in my family... I have parents, siblings, cousins, etc... my bro and his wife said tonight they've been waiting a whole year to get him over night so they offered to take him for us next weekend and maybe we'll get to go somewhere or do something then But usually if Mike and I go out, Ryder comes too, and then we go to my place or his and Ryder goes to sleep and we watch a movie or something and cuddle before bed and that's our alone time It's nice having a grown up to spend time with!

Ugh. We are terrible about this. We did have 3 nights alone for our wedding, but other than that, the only alone time we have is when we are at school, which means we are alone with 3000 other students...lol. We have kinda been bad lately though, ditching class every once in a while to go to a movie or something. We just don't see each other very much with our class schedules the way they are, and DH working all the time.

We try to go on a date about every other weekend. Since it's only Ava at home, and our families live in town it's easy for us to go out for an afternoon and have a free babysitter. DH works second shift so the only day we're able to go out is on Sundays, so we either go out for lunch, do a little fun shopping, go to the movies, or just drop Ava off at grandmas house and have the house to ourselves for a couple of hours.

DH and I have never gone out without Megan. We don't have family that can take her and we don't have a sitter sooooo she comes with us. Heck, I've only been away from her for a total of 3 hours since she was born, 2 Dr apps and once to the grocery store! I have no desire to be without her. I know its Prolly bad but ...... just wish we had someone we trusted to watch her.

We've gone out twice alone since Nora was born - the last time was in June? July? BUT we do do date nights at home where we get dinner after the kids are in bed and watch a movie or play games or something. We usually do that a couple times a month.
