Caleb had his one year check up today. And despite Momma having to turn into a grumpy not so nice momma, he checked out great!
He's 20lb 9.5 oz, and 30 in long!! So much for my little failure to thrive little guy!!
The not so fun part: he had to have a lead test since we live in a house that's over 100 years old, regardless of the fact that there are no remnants of lead paint anywhere, but whatever, we can do it to be safe. Now keep in mind I worked 12 hours before taking him in. His appt. was at 8:30 and the doc was running late already. Then we had to go down to the lab. By this time it's almost 10am. So I'm tired. And sick (again). And I don't get to sleep until after noon today. Yep, I'm grumpy. Finally, we get called back, and the 2 lab techs take us to a little room. She has a brand new lab tech with her. I know everyone has to start somewhere, and I thought "I'll give her a chance". Well, she screwed up when she didn't wash her hands or gel before touching him or putting on gloves getting ready to draw. So they start looking and don't seem to be finding anything, I sit quiet, Caleb's ticked off and this new chick says "I *think* I feel something here, maybe, should I just go for it?". Um, not on my child your not! You're sure as Haitis not going to just go poking around on him! It's really not my nature to do this but I told her "I'd prefer that someone who is experienced with kids draw him". I know, it wasn't nice, everyone has to learn somewhere, but I wasn't in the mood. Plus they really weren't very nice. So the experienced lady sticks him, she digs for a bit and finally gets it and of course it's running slow. I mention that he's probably going to puke since he's been crying hard for so long and if they have a couple towels handy they should get them. They look at me like I'm stupid and say, "Oh is he sick?" and ignore me. Served them right when he puked all over the table. Ugh, what a morning!
