Other than errands, what are some things you do with your baby outside the home? Megan is an only child and I don't have friends with children close to her age. So what are some fun things to do or places to take your 1 year old to? I'm signing up for some storytime sessions at the public library.

I take her swimming, which she just loves.
We also have a local mom's group here which I've been a part of since my oldest was about 9 months. We have playdates, walks, etc quite often and I've met some great friends with kids the same age.

I've tried to find a playgroup or moms group in my area but so far have been unsuccessful. Looked into swimming but wow! Just to join the local 'Y' here is like $1200 a year!

The only thing I do really is swimming lessons. I may take her to a Gymboree-type local class starting in the spring. It's funny how different it is from when Keller was born - he was the first baby among my friends and I didn't get him involved in anything until he was about 2 so we were pretty isolated. Now all of my friends have 1 or 2 kids, plus Isla has Keller so she gets a lot more kid play time!

jcannon, i am with ya there. there is no group like that where i live, the Y is holy hells bells expensive, and there really isnt any way to meet ppl my age, or at least mature ones with kids.

for his bday we got him a radio flyer all terrain wagon, so we do walks every day i am home, there is a new playground by us, he LOVES, and thats a lot easier than the other sand pits that are around here that usually have glass or wtvr else in them. we play in the yard. i refuse to go to mcdonalds or anyother type of playland.. thats just...uh.. i cant even go there.. lets leave it at that..our library kinds blows, not much for kids at all, and all he would do at this point is steal books and try and eat them. lol.. so we play in diff rooms, sometimes in the garage, wtvr comes to mind. its hard as heck to not have anyone.. but we make due with this kinda crappy town i live in.

I did a lot of walks when Jacob was a baby, and the park, but I didn't really do much else. There were some mom groups around that I just wasn't aware of, like MOPS and Hearts at Home. I never went to any of those meetings, but I know some people who do and they love them.

We do KinderMusik classes, which are fun. Now that Max is in daycare part time and can be with other little kids there, we will probably stop and save our money.
