Ugh, while I'm all for women having choices when it comes to how they deliver, I just don't think this is a good thing. C-sections are fine...when they are necessary. I think people have this idea that its' the easy way...SOOO not the case (for most people). It takes so much longer to recover. They just comes with soooo many added risks during, after the procedure, and in future pregnancies because it is a major abdominal surgery. The body was made to deliver vaginally, obviously there are exceptions to everything. For someone who had a 4th degree laceration, or shoulder dystocia or traumatic delivery with baby #1, sure, schedule a c/s, I think that's completely fine. But for a 1st baby just because you don't want to push a baby out of your vagina? I just don't think that's a good reason. *sigh* I will say this doesn't surprise me.

(Just my thoughts, hope no one is offended. )

This is so stupid to me. I would have rather given birth naturally to Gabriel. After my c-section I started showing symptoms of shock, and guess what? My DR had NO idea why. I had nurses constantly checking on me. I know why, tho, my body was just traumatized. My BP was very low and my HR was over 165 while I was lying in bed, and my urine output was low. My DR told me she was pushing as much fluids as she could. At the time I didn't really understand, but now when I think about it, that was actually a pretty scary predicament to be in. So to me the added risks with c-sections are just not worth it. Not to mention the PAIN of recovery. I ended up with a slight infection in my incision and even to this day still have problems with it. Women who CHOOSE this really need their heads checked. Yes, I imagine labor hurts like nothing else, but recovery is generally quick & you can stand up and pick up your baby without help.

*sigh*

See, I didn't have the major pain, it was way worse when I had back surgery! But it hurt, I had pieces of suture coming out my incision for weeks after, never info, but lot of issues.

I knew you would feel that way, and I agree! ESP when you actually see or got thru a trauma. And, your body IS made to do it the vaginal way. Like everything else medical, our body gets so screwed up when ppl think of new "things" to fix' enhance or just plain change
