so I was watching A baby story....and this woman opted for a Pupendal block. I had never heard of this before......but OMG....she screamed like she was being killed!....I was actually squirming watching it......
anyone heard of it or had one????
Never even heard of it! It only lessens the urge to push??? Why would someone want to just block the pushing urge-unless they were told to stop pushing for a minute due to the umbillical cord? I was induced and had epi's with all my kids....to block the pain of the contractions...not the urge to push. the urge to push just told me that all was coming to an end....a happy end!
i have heard of it, but don't know anyone that has had it. i think women sometimes get it when they don't want and epidural or when it is too late for an epidural. some women may chose it b/c it has less side effects than other meds. i think the reducing the urge to push side effect is just one they have to list b/c you will hear the same thing about the epidural. i believe this block just numbs the very nether regions for the actual delivery.
but it sure does sound scary to get a shot in your junk!
