we have a bassinet for Katie that will go in our room....I also got a Moses basket for when she first comes home, or when we nap... so I can have her in bed next to me....but I am not planning on letting that continue for long. we won't be co-sleeping.
here is the basket we have....it is sooooooooooooo cute !!!
i plan on her sleeping in our room in the bassinet part of the pack & play at first. i thought this would be work well for night time feedings and all. then i will transition her into her crib. that is my tentative plan.
We started Kaylie off in her pack and play but that lasted for about 5 seconds b/c I was always up checking on her and she was always up nursing. We ended up co-sleeping for 10 months until she weened. We all just slept better that way.
We will start off with Scott in our room too. I want to try co-sleeping again but that is up to him. I guess it will just depend on what type of baby he is. After having DD I became a big beliver in baby led parenting...it is easier than making plans and getting mad when baby has other idea's
Erin slept in a bassinet right next to my bed for the first 5 months. She then grew out of it and got transitioned to her crib. The only times she ever slept in bed with me was when I fell asleep during her nighttime feeding. =Þ Don't be surprised when you wake up with a baby next to you and you don't remember how she got there!
I tried a bassinet with both of my girls but it never worked out so we ended up cosleeping. This time I am going to get a co-sleeper that fastens to the bed because we have downsized from a king to a queen and there wont be as much room. Hopefully the baby will agree with our arrangement.
We're actually going to have the baby's crib in a small nook in our bedroom, so that's where he'll sleep from day one. With the others, we've used a bassinet in room until they were sleeping through the night (~6-8wks), but with the crib right there we won't need that this go round.
We are going to do the bassinet until they outgrow it and then they are going into a crib. I found a really cute bassinet that turns into a changing table, sleeper and bassinet. It also is removeable for on the go use.
I guess I'm one of those meanie moms who needed her sleep, but Noley slept in his crib in his room since the first night we brought him home----he was a 9' walk from my bed, and I had a breathing/sound monitor on him--I really enjoyed being able to get up with him and rock him to BF in his room. DH was afraid to roll on him if we co-slept, so we've never done that---we'll occasionally put him to sleep that way if we're away from home, but then I put him in his pack n play right away. He developed really good sleep habits early, and he's always had that little space of his own, with his special toys and books. I'm planning on having #2 in his/her own crib again, but I guess I'll worry about that when I get there. If I did that, that baby would likely be in a crib in our room so they would get used to that space before going to their own room.
