So my kids come home from their Dad's tonight and start telling me how they have only been able to hold their brother three times. The kid is like 6 weeks old! I just want to knock some sense into my ex. How rude! Man it's not like our kids are little and will drop him. They are 13 and 17 for goodness sake

I just can't believe they are keeping them so shut out of his life. GRRRR

Okay I feel better

Really? that's sad, you want your kid to bond with their new brother.
But I have to wonder, is it him that did not let them or her? I can see her not wanting your kids to hold her baby and him gong along fpr the sake of not arguing, KWIM?

AWW thanks girls your replies make me laugh

I think A LOT if not all of it is her. But man... grow some balls and tell her to get over herself. I just want to slap him sometimes so he wakes up. The kids also said the few times they have held him she has been anal about them washing their hands and will not allow anyone to kiss him. UGH they are SIBLINGS for goodness sake. If they were closer in age they would be sharing sippy cups

I should call my ex and talk to him about it...but I don't want to get into a don't tell me how to raise my kids battle.

I was thinking more about her... and she really is just a dumb kid. She was 5 when we had Jeremy. That makes me feel a little better....at least it is just ignorance and not meaness.

On the other hand I can't wait for this little guy to get here so my kids can REALLY know what it feels like to have a baby brother. They will also be there for the 3d4d u/s and the birth. I can't imagine going through all this and shutting them out.... how rude.

Oh well

I'm sorry Bobbie, she need to get over herself. I was asking because if I recall correctly my stepmom was the same way with my brothers. I hope she gets over herself soon.

What? My 7 year old nephew has held Benjamin a million times. Tell her to pull the stick out of her bum and relax. They are adults!

I know where you're coming from and it SUCKS!!! We've been experiencing the same thing with Jay's brother and his wife. They have 2 little boys under age 2, Jay's parents' only grandchildren, but they never come around and on the rare occasion they are around, we're not really allowed to hold the kids or interact with them at all. And yet they spend every single day with HER family. My inlaws are totally heartbroken. Jay and I are just pissed about the whole thing. But it's like, geez, what can you do??
Some people are just jerks.

That does seem a tad ridiculous. I don't know, it really annoys me how anal some women are about people holding their little babies. Maybe it's because my mom was so laid back anyway, especially by the time I was old enough to remember my youngest siblings being born (after 7 kids, you tend to be a bit more relaxed about germs...lol).

I'm sorry your kids aren't getting to bond with him so much. Hopefully it'll get better as the baby gets older. But I'm glad that you are having a baby so they can really experience it!
