In the diaper thread, you said that Ellie had significant weight loss. May I ask how much she lost?

I'm just wondering because Erin lost 10oz by the time she was 5 days old, and everybody brushed it off as "losing a little is normal." But talking to other moms, their babies usually lost 5oz or less. So I'm just wondering how much weight is classified as "significant."

No problem brittanie...
She was 8 lbs 10 oz at birth and at 5 days she was 7lbs 7 oz. So that makes a loss of 19 oz. Which the doc say was very significant. He said some weight loss is expected...he would have be alright with about 10 oz, but 19 was way to much. It has been a bit scarey, but she is making a turn and on monday she was up to 7lbs 13 oz...so we will take every ounce we can get!!! The 10 oz was based on her birth weight, if Erin weighed less than he would have expected less of a weight loss, know what I mean?

Um, yeah, I would hope they considered 19 oz significant! Yeeesh! I'm glad she's gaining now though! Here's hoping she back up to and past her birthweight soon!

((eta: I just realized that I only used exclamation marks in that post. >_< ))
