And it went just fine! My dr found the heartbeat on the doppler right away, 150 bpm. Whew! She found it right away and it was nice and loud.
So baby is doing just fine. In 4 weeks, I have gained a whopping......1 pound!!! Dr said that was normal and I'm one of those thin people who will gain a pound here or there and really start to gain around 5 months.
Next appointment in another 4 weeks and I get to schedule my big ultrasound soon. I'm debating on 19w4d or 20w4d (the u/s place is only open on Wed). My Dr said it's better to have it later to make sure they can see everything (not speaking of gender, just internal organs and stuff).
I am relieved now, I'm in the 2nd trimester and heard the heartbeat! Now I will start telling the general public! (co workers that don't know, Myspace). Fun!
Annnnd...my Dh got a video where you can hear the heartbeat.
I had my u/s at 19w4d, and there was one small part of the heart she couldn't see as clearly as she would have liked. But it was good other than that. With both Cora and Erin I had the u/s later (around 22w).
I'm SO GLAD that everything is going so well for you! I'm going to have to watch that video later. I'm watching a movie right now and so the receiver isn't on the computer setting. lol.
OMG the video was so cute. I really miss hearing that everyday. It's such a sweet sound. I can't wait to hear what you pick. Like I said, one extra week was torture for me so I totally understand if you do it at 19 weeks but I get what your doc is saying about waiting until 20 weeks. Difficult decision for sure! Let us know what you decide.
i have my scan at exactly 20 w... tomorrow. i couldn't stand to wait longer (cuz i want to find out the sex) so i wouldn't be any help in deciding.
it felt so relieved to be in the 2nd tri- congrats!!!!
Thanks girls! It is a toughie, because the 19w4d option would actually fall on my birthday. What a great b-day present that would be!!! But then waiting one more week wouldn't kill me and it would be a week before Christmas...soo...early Christmas present. I even had the evil thought of not telling our families what the gender is until Christmas and having it be a Christmas surprise. I think my mom might kill me though.
The place that does the ultrasounds is a high risk place and my doctor said even though I'm not high risk, she recommended it because all they do is baby scans. When I call to schedule I will probably just ask them if the earlier date is okay or not and see what they say.
