Hi ladies,

I hate to be a downer in my DDC, so I'd really like to join here because I know you all know what I'm going through!

I got pregnant in June (this is our first) and found out at 10 weeks there was no heartbeat. I had a D&C 2 days later, although started to m/c that morning on my own too. I had absolutely no symptoms and wasn't THAT surprised to find out I wasn't pregnant. I didn't have symptoms from day 1 though. I'm not sure how far along I was (I think the Dr said my uterus felt 7 or 8 weeks but I never really asked).

ANYway...I got my BFP a week ago today (and since then have tested 4 more times!) My beta at 14dpo was 171, which I was told was a little low (although it doesn't seem like it from what I've read), so they had me go back again at 18dpo, which was this past Friday. So I will find out tomorrow how/if the numbers are progressing. The latest FRER I took this morning was darker than the one I took on Thursday (which was darker than Tuesday), but I don't know how much weight I'll put on that.

In the meantime, I have no symptoms at all and I just don't have my hopes up. If my numbers are good, I will be absolutely thrilled tomorrow. I just don't feel like it's real. And if I have to go through another loss I'll just be devastated.

If my numbers do come back good tomorrow, I'm hoping my OB will have me in for an u/s at 8 weeks, which will be the week before Christmas, so we can share the news! He's wonderful (I wasn't supposed to have an u/s at my 10 week appt last time, but he knew I wanted some reassurance), so I think he will do it. Did your Dr's monitor you any different after one loss?

I didn't get treated differently at all after one loss. My doctor told me that miscarriages happen more often than you think, so after one loss, it's not "worth it" to do extra monitoring. However, with my new doctor here in Vegas, they put me on high risk immediately. I see a specialist for ultrasounds and genetics.

Your doctor sounds nice though. I bet he will do an earlier ultrasound for you.

Here is some sticky dust for you!!

Hey, it's always nice to have a newcomer! Here's hoping you get an early u/s. My doctors did treat me differently, but I don't know if the fact that my loss was so late has anything to do with that.

It's always scary to be pregnant after a loss. Here's some ultra-sticky dust for you though!

Welcome and congratulations on your BFP!!

I had a missed m/c in March this year, and lost twins at 11 weeks. I'm pg again & due in July. My OB had said that when I got pg again he'd do some more tests, but all he did was order an HCG and progesterone blood test, and he's still seeing me at 8 weeks (I thought I'd get in earlier). So nothing different, other than the bloodwork.

Try not to worry about the lack of symptoms. I didn't even test till 7 weeks with my first pg because I just didn't think I was pg. I never had any symptoms.

Glad you've joined us!

Hi Christine,

I saw that you got your BFP on TTCAL and hoped you'd come this way! I like it so much better than a DDC as well, I just fit in better and its fun that we're all at different stages so someone is usually getting ready to pop. I'm no expert, but 171 at 14dpo sounds good to me. I wouldn't worry too much about your lack of symptoms....everyone is different when it comes to symptoms and mine don't usually start until my hcg is approaching 10,000.

I don't know if I would have been treated differently after one loss, because my first two losses were both early, before I could see a doc. With my third, I had ultrasounds every week, but that was mostly because the baby's development was off from the start. This time, I have pretty much gotten whatever I want. I've had 4 ultrasounds and am now happy to be on the "normal pregnancy" schedule of being seen every 4 weeks. Of course, if anything concerning happens in between appointments, they get me in for a double check right away. I've been pleased with the special treatment, because I really don't think I should have to spend my entire pregnancy worrying.

I don't think an ultrasound at 8 weeks (or even 7) is too much to ask at all. I'll be watching for your #'s update tomorrow!

First of all, Welcome and Congrats!!!!

As for my doctor, yes, he did monitor me closer after my 1st loss. He was giving me ultrasounds like every week. He was great like that though, and I think most doctors would not take the time like he did. Also, for the 171 at 14 DPO, that is prefectly normal!! Mine was 169 at 15 DPO with this pregnancy, and as you can see, everything is going great and he is almost here. I can't believe they told you that - dummies! I didn't have a lot of symptoms either, and noticed that they were pretty sporadic when I did have them. Sick one day, but not the next, etc.

I can't wait for your update tomorrow, and I know it is gonna be a good one....lots of sticky dust to you!!

Hi Christine!!
I'm glad you're joining over here! I know nothing about numbers as I haven't ever had any before 7 weeks. This time, I have a new doctor and won't go in until I'm 9.2 weeks, so I don't expect to be treated any differently (although I'm still hoping that I will get an early u/s to make sure everything is okay!). I would be that since your doctor was willing to help you out last time, that he will be happy to get you in for a u/s at 8 weeks, if nothing else, just to reasure you that everything is A-OK!
I'm so happy for you and I hope that you have a perfect and uneventful 9 months!

Update:

My beta from Friday 18dpo came in at 770! So 14dpo was 171...so they're doubling like they should.

The best part is I have an ultrasound on Monday!!!

I'm still a little worried about low progesterone. I don't know if mine is low or not. When I went back for labs on Friday, the lab lady didn't have my slip from the Dr so she asked what I needed. I told her my levels were low on Monday and they wanted a second beta. She asked if I was spotting and I said I had been, but wasn't then. She said "we'll do that one too". And they took 2 vials this time (instead of 1 previously). Was that 2nd vial to measure prog? The MA didn't mention anything about that this morning, just told me my hcg level.

I've had short LPs, and the previous miscarriage...am I okay to wait until Monday to talk to my OB about this? And I wonder if I'll even see him on Monday, maybe just the u/s tech?

Am I worrying enough?

WOO HOO!!! That's great!! Congrats!!

You know, if you are worried about low progesterone, then I would call the doctor. There is nothing wrong with doing that! Don't be concerned about being too worried, it is only natural.....

Congrats Christine!!!
YAY for great numbers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was not treated any different just because I had a m/c and I was never told anything about my progesterone levels, so I wouldn't worry too much about it, they will say something is they see that they are too low or you can always ask your doctor. My first u/s was at the doctor's office, the dr was the one that did the first u/s so.

Welcome Christine and YAHOOOOO for great numbers. As far as being treated different by my doctor after my losses...I would just say my doc is very carring and was more than ready to answer any questions, return phone calls and such. I don't know if she treated me any different than her other patients but she always made time for me. I LOVE her. I had my little one on Sept 10th after 2 consecutive losses.

As for progesterone...I asked my doc after the second loss to please put me on it, just in case that was the problem. I am not saying that progesterone was the magic bullet, but it was something different I did and the beanie stuck. I am sure all is well. Just keep as positive as you can, and remember we have all been through this and are here to support you.

Woohoo for great numbers Christine. I would say call the doc and just ask about your progesterone if you're worried about it. I can't wait til the u/s on Monday.

Welcome Christine! Your numbers look great!

I was treated differently this time because I was seeing an RE. I had an u/s with her at 8 weeks, then one with my OB at 10 weeks. I was actually supposed to have 2 with my RE, but I wasn't able to because we had a hurricane hit. Anyway, my progesterone was low with my last pregnancy, so I was told that I could be on progesterone this time around. I took progesterone and never even had my levels checked. If you are worried about it, call your doctor and ask. If nothing else, it can put your mind at ease if your doctor says you don't need it.

Oh and CONGRATS!

Hi Christine- I have seen some of your posts on the August DDC board and I thought I would let you know that my story is actually pretty similar to yours. I found out I was pregnant in July and had spotting on and off for the 1st 8 weeks and finally my OB had me come in to see what was going on and they ended up doing an ultrasound because they couldn't find a hb. Turned out I just had an empty sac that stopped growing at 6 weeks. I had a D&C the next day.
Well, I just found out before Thanksgiving that I am pregnant again and just like you, scared beyond belief! I am also having an ultrasound next week (on Friday) when I will be 7 weeks along. I was so relieved to hear that they would get me in earlier to make sure that everything is going okay.
Good luck with your ultrasound on Monday and let us know how it goes. I am sure everything will turn out great!!

Congrats and welcome. Always happy to have new members join over here. Try not to read too much into symptoms. I have 2 boys, 1 mc, and now a baby girl. I didn't have any symptoms with my boys or the mc at all but a ton with my baby girl.

So happy to hear about your numbers and can't wait to hear back about your scan!!!

Hi Christine!! Welcome to PAL! Congrats on your pregnancy!!!! As far as being treated any differently, it sounds like it probably depends on your doctor. I had to fight, and even change doctors, to be treated any differently after 3 losses. It sounds like you have one of the good ones though, and will get the extra monitoring that will help keep your heart and mind at ease. Good luck! Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!!!
