At "that" appt last time we went through the whole process of the exams and alllll the paperwork and THEN tried to find the heartbeat which was nonexistent, so I was basically there for over an hour for no reason...
Well I totally and completely love my doc because today they called me back...took my stats and went straight to looking for the heartbeat...the tech tried finding it first with the doppler...but the poor girl looked all over and couldn't find anything but mine...but I tried my best to stay calm because she was only the tech...so then my doc came in and asked her how everything was going...when the tech told her she couldn't find the heartbeat I saw "that" look in Dr Gray's eyes and she told the tech to go grab the portable u/s machine and in less than a minute she had our beautiful little belly bean and their heartbeat on the screen...
I'm still measuring right on schedule and baby's heartrate was 163BPM...we went over the prenatal history of my two successful pregnancies...she pretty much said as long as my blood pressure stays down (which its never gotten high during pregnancy) and I don't go into PTL like I did with Keegan, then this should be a rather normal pregnancy...she offered me the quad-screen but the results are too wishy-washy for my sanity and it wouldn't make a difference to us either way...
So...all in all...the appt was wonderful...everything is going great...and my next appt is 23 Feb 09 and I will be 15w3d and HOPEFULLY we will be able to see if its a or a !!!!!!
The printer on the portable u/s was out of paper so the best I could get was the pic of the screen with my cell...
You know, my Dr. did the same thing at 12 weeks. He couldn't find the h/b on the doppler so they moved me into the room with the u/s machine so we could check. The whole time he was saying "It's going to be okay, I just know it. Don't worry."
Of course, it was the same of the 3 that confirmed Cora didn't have a heartbeat, so I think he was wanting to reassure himself as well.
That's a wonderful update Danielle! I'm sorry you had to endure even a few minutes of fear....one time this pg the nurse took like 30 seconds to find mine and I started to hyperventilate! Seems like we're always talkin about bad docs on here, so hooray for having a sympathetic doc too. You'll be feeling lots of movement in no time, so then you won't have to worry as much anyway!!
