I posted this pic in the Oct. DDC and thought the ladies here might have some opinions too. What is that round mass near the fetal pole? It doesn't look like a yolk sac. I thought yolk sacs were hollow inside.

u/s taken at 7 weeks 1 day

I don't know honey. I know that different angles can cast different "shadows" though, so I don't know if it's just the angle they were looking at.

If the tech didn't seem at all concerned, then I wouldn't be...

Thanks Brittanie. She didn't seemed concerned and I'm thinking I over analyze things too much. I am going to just relax and enjoy being pregnant. I just can't wait for the 1st trimester to be over!

It's not hard to overanalyze when you're PAL. I think we all do. And being calm and enjoying it is something I'm working on right now too!

I am not sure, but if the tech wasn't concerned, I wouldn't worry about it.

Brittanie is right, depending on the angle, things will look different.

The yolk sac normally looks like a hollow ring. But on one of my 8 week u/s pictures, it looks more solid. In fact, it made it look like my baby had two heads! (I promise, he doesn't. )

Here's my pics.

Ultrasound showing normal looking yolk sac above baby:

Ultrasound showing more solid looking yolk sac above baby:

An outline I did so my family could tell what they were looking at!

I agree with both girls (and those u/s pics really help make the point shannon) it's probably the angle that the pic was taken from. And if the u/s tech and your dr had nothing to say about it, you are OK.

It looks like a beautiful baby to me! Congratulations!

Just another quick suggestion...it could just be a small blood clot that will reabsorb itself...at my 7w u/s there was a mass about twice the size of baby that had my doc completely confused...but at a follow up at 10w the mass was gone...here is a pic that I outlined and labeled stuff:

7w: Large Mass

10w: No Mass

So...I would definately say its probably nothing to worry about...
