Hi everyone, I think I posted this in all of the pregnancy boards! I'm crazy and I worry too much, and I can't get enough reassurance! well here's the issue, I've always washed fruits and vegetables with dish soap and water, and never thought about it, but now all of a sudden I'm extremely worried that I hurt my baby, I do not do that with leafy greens, grabes, strawberries, etc only things with skin like apples, tomatoes, cucumber, and to add to my horror I just realized that it was an antibacterial soap (has triclosan), anyway I read online about it and it seems that I'm the only one in this world who does that! I feel awful, was I doing a crazy horrible thing this whole time? all what I care about now is the baby, any thoughts would be appreciated. thanks.
My thought is this: It's always good to rinse your produce. Insecticides would be worse than a little soap. And obviously if it's not making you sick, you're rinsing all the soap off of it, so I'm betting you're okay. The only way it would hurt your baby is if you ingested some, which would make YOU sick first.
I have 2 healthy children (Praise God) and did the same thing when I was pg. So relax!!! Like the PP said...it would make you sick 1st.
It is really hard not to overthink thing when you are expecting but remember that women have been having babies since the begining of time (well our time anyways) and in a lot worse conditions then we live in and the human race is going strong.
