Hello Ladies,
I had my 1st appointment yesterday at exactly 8 weeks. We could not hear a hb with the doppler which Dr. said we should not be able to. So she wanted to do an ultrasound just to check since I had had a miscarriage before. Much to my surprise there were 2 sacks. The first one was a perfect 8 wk size baby with a beautiful beating heart. The second was a much smaller baby with no heartbeat. I was so confused, I wanted to be happy but was sad at the same time. I feel much better today after having done alot of praying. I have hope and I pray that God's perfect will will be done.

Is it possible the baby will catch up? I have another US on March 25.

Nette,

Congrats on the heartbeat and perfect baby! I'm sorry that it had to come along with some tough news as well. While I don't think its impossible for the other to catch up (or just be hard to see), I have read that having twins and one not developing is extremely common. More common than most women know because they don't have early u/s. It okay to feel sad about it too.

and Congrats again on your heartbeat.

I'm sorry sweetie that you are having to go through all of this. Congratulations on hearing a heartbeat on the one twin though. That is great. But I know how confusing the feelings are after hearing that one twin is not viable, and the other is. It hurts, and at the same time you are happy for the surviving twin.

It's OK to hold out hope, and I will be hoping and praying right along with you. March 25 will be here before you know it.

KUP on how you are doing.

Congrats for one healthy baby....I hope and pray things are okay with the other baby, and if not then he/she is with God now.

I am surprised your dr said he could hear the HB with a doppler at 8 weeks?! I've never heard of it that early. I had an appt yesterday, and my mw said she doesn't even try at my stage ( I just started 10 weeks) because it is still so iffy, as the uterus is still under the pubic bone, and she doesn't want to stress her patients with no HB.

I don't think it is possible to hear a HB at 8 weeks with a doppler (?)

Thank you all so much. I am staying hopeful and keeping a positive attitude until I know for sure what is happening. We are firm believers in the power of the tongue--- I mean 12 people told me I was pregnant with twins and guess what I AM.
Thanks again for all your support ladies.
