Hi everyone! I haven't posted yet cause I'm been scared to jinx this pregnany. I went in today for my beta test and stopped by and said hi to my dr. He said that I should go on progesterone. I went to pick up the script and it's $200. I can't afford that. I dont know if I should go and beg his parents or what. What would you do?

I'm sorry I don't have any experience with progesterone, but I know several ppl on here have used it.

I don't know if you can call your dr and ask for free samples (if they are available) to give you a little time to get some money together.

First did they do a progesterone test? If not how does he know you need it? I had to be on progesterone with both DS's my levels were 12 and 14 but I didn't need it this time because my level was 30.
Also do you think your Insurance would cover shots? If so then ask him if weekly shots would be ok since the Out of pocket price is so high.
I remember the cost of progesterone all to well and it can add up really fast. So call your in the morning before asking your In-laws for help.

BTW: Congrats!

I would also call and let your doctor know that you can't afford the progestrone and ask if he can check your levels.

I agree with finding out about your levels first.

As for the cost, that seems crazy! I used progesterone suppositories that my insurance did not cover and I think I paid around $30 or $40 for a 10 day supply. That seemed like kinda a lot to me, but well worth it!

If your levels are really low, I would say progesterone is worth the investment, but I would then check around on prices. Good luck figuring it all out!

I called the dr back and they told me to just get 2 days worth and take it tonight and then we will get results in the morning and go from there. Thanks for the advice.

Mine were $180 for a month supply, I was thankful they weren't needed this time. They seem to be higher in areas where there's only 2-3 compounding pharmacies.

I am glad you called. I will pray high levels for you so you can save money to buy something for the baby later on.

Hi! Congrats on your pregnancy!

My doctor ordered progesterone injections 2x a week. With only one compounding pharmacy in my entire city, they only cost me $34 for a 3 week supply; and the pharmacy did not submit to insurance, so that was the total price.

Good luck! I hope you can get something figured out, hun!
