After getting the notification last week of the soft marker I had a LONGGGG talk with Dr Gray...she didn't neccesarily "convince" me to do it...but she helped me understand that if I did the quad screen and the results came back within normal levels that would almost (like 99%) guarantee that there is nothing wrong with Kennedy...but if they came back abnormal, depending on which hormone levels are out of whack it would give the Mat/Fet specialist a better idea of what to look for...so...needless to say I went in last Thursday afternoon and had the blood drawn...

I just got the phone call from Dr Gray with the results...and...

IT WAS ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY NORMAL!!

That makes me feel soooooo much better...I know it isn't a guarantee, but it definately makes me feel like there is hope and my appt on Monday will just be another chance to see our beautiful little girl!

ETA Lab Results...Here are the actual results from the lab report:
MSAFP RISK OPEN NTD (Neural Tube Defects): <1 IN 5000
AGE RISK DOWN SYNDROME: 1 IN 1058 (THIS IS BECAUSE I WILL BE 25 WHEN SHE IS BORN WHICH BUMPS UP A CATEGORY IN THE AGE BRACKET)
QUAD RISK DOWN SYNDROME: <1 IN 5000
MSS3 TRISOMY 18 RISK: <1 IN 5000

SERUM RESULTS:
MSAFP (ALPHA-FETO PROTEIN): 23.6 NG/ML
ESTRIOL: 4.13 NG/ML
HCG: 6.19 IU/ML (619,000 MIU/ML IS WHAT WE ARE USED TO SEEING)
INHIBIN A: 132.1 PG/ML

Yay!!!! That is absolutely terrific news. It's funny that you said that the fact that you're going to be 25 bumps you into a different age bracket in the Age Risk Category! You are so OLD! hee hee... I'm so glad that the test put your mind at ease. I can't wait to see your u/s pics!

yeah yeah yeah Kelty

But it took from like 1 in 3500 or so to 1 in 1058 so I figured I'd put in there why thats the only *real* statistic...

I'm definately looking forward to the u/s on Monday with a little more positive light...hopefully Dr Baacke will give me some good pics and hpoefully a money shot
