My husband's co-worker is pregnant, due in Aug, I believe. This is their first and she doesn't know lots of people who have had kids, etc. They have pretty much been trusting their family doc. She was given a quad screen w/o even being given any info on it or asked if she wanted it. She didn't know any better, of course. Last week, she gets a phone call and runs out of the office crying and doesn't come back to work for the remainder of the week. DH sees "quad screen" written on her notepad. I was worried about her all last week. Today, I find out that her office called (last week at work) and told her she was positive for Trisomy 18 (which she had prob never heard of) and that they had scheduled her with a genetic specialist in the city. That's all they tell her. She googles Trisomy 18, of course. Days of heartache go by....Finally, she gets a confirmation call from the specialist, at which point they figure out that they have been given the wrong due date by her doc. The wrong due date was used to calculate the results of her quad screen. Using the correct due date made her screen negative!! The genetic specialist cancels her appointment and her own doc calls later that day with the "good news". He doesn't apologize or explain anything....he says "I bet you had a rough few days, huh?"
OMG!! Especially after everything I have been going through and emotionally dealing with I can only imagine what a poor mess this lady has been in...and what an uncompassionate D**K head! I'd wanna go punch him in the balls and ask him if he is ready for a few rough days...
