I let that man have it and his excuse was "with your history and age you NEEDED the screening", I'm sorry but no I didn't. This whole thing has caused nothing but fear, worry and dread. Even with everything looking good on the U/S it brings my odds to 1:72 still bad in his opinion.
DH was with me and by the time we were done he was terrified. All the Dr could talk about is that Trisomy 18 babies don't live and how we need to find out ASAP in case I need to terminate. He didn't give a **** when I told him there was no way I would terminate, if the baby has it then she/he would go on it's own not when he decided. I did decide to have the amnio but I waited until I was past 20 wks(you can't get an abortion past 20 wks here). I have it done on May 11. The whole problem about having it on May 11 is the FISH(fast results) will be back around May 14 which is the day I found out my Caitlyn died at 12 wks in 2003 and it's also my DD for baby Matthew that I lost this past year at 7 wks.
I am trying to stay positive but it so D*mn hard because of the way everyone is acting.
All I wanted was a semi-normal pregnancy and I was having one until now.

Do you remember if you signed a consent form or not for the quad screen? If you did and they have it on your record what he did was completely ILLEGAL regardless of his own personal opinion...I know I had to sign one when I declined it and the CF testing...and then when I changed my mind I had to sign another one to allow the doctor to put the order into the lab...I just can't believe your doc made that kind of decision all on his own...what an a**hole...I would be looking for a new doctor ASAP...if he is willing to make these kinds of decisions now I don't even want to know what he would do in a delivery room...

Loads of hugs and prayers coming your way...

I never signed the consent he is a cocky arrogant Peri who thinks he knows everything. He is only one of three Peris in town and they all are in the same practice. I am going to ask my OB if I can see the one who took care of me when I was pregnant with Jon(Dr. S). I did ask that the Dr. S do my amnio. Now the OB I saw thought they screwed up and the results were wrong, so I know they don't trust them either.
I want to hit someone.

OMG, that's just stunning and horrifying. I don't give a %#@%# what his opinion is, YOU ARE THE PATIENT! He has NO right to make decisions for your care like that, what tests you will get or not. I'm just flabbergasted that he would do that. Ugh.

I hope you can see the other peri.
