My genetic counselor at the perinatologist's office just called! Even though I know these are no guarantee, i'm beyond thrilled with the results from our screening:

Trisomy 18 & Downs...both 1-10,000 (best result regardless of age, just for comparative purposes at my age i was anticipated to be 1-240 risk of Downs)

Spina Bifida risk at 1-5,400

And I came back definitive negative for Fragile X, and best risk available for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (1-632, versus general pop risk of 1-64 i think)

YAY!

Lara! Those are fantastic results! Your numbers are fantastic. You must be so glad! And, with the next perinatology u/s in just a FEW SHORT WEEKS, everything is going so well (except that dang morning sickness :O ) I'm so glad you got such great numbers! Your numbers are better than some women who aren't AMA! Great news!

Kelty - yeah who knew us old ladies could get results like 18 year olds? This was such a huge relief to me b/c we decided we'd only do amnio if we saw significant risk flagged in the quad/NT results...so now, no amnio!

Michelle - the m/s is getting slowly better, thanks for asking i'm being worked off my m/s meds right now (i've dropped one completely, and on 1/2 dose of the Zofran)...so unfortunately that's made me feel worse this week, but my goal is to be completely off them w/in next 2 weeks! I love that picture of Tyler in your siggy...he's so darn cute!

Thanks Lara. He's my lil man. I am so in love with him.

I'm glad it's slowly getting better. I hope coming off the meds won't get too bad for you. When do you find out the gender?

well the perinatologist gave us a 99% certainty of it being a girl, which honestly i took more like a guess b/c it was so early (12w3d, but baby was measuring closer to 13wk)...but i then took Intelligender and got really clear girl result, still not convinced...but then i go to my 16wk appt and my OB says "oh then it's a girl, he's never wrong (about my perinatologist)". So i'm the only one holding out to get confirmation at my 20wk u/s that it's a girl before I buy anything but it'll be a shock if they tell me it's a boy!
