I just rang to get the results from my GTT and was told I have failed. Yep, I have gestational diabetes. Im gutted, I could of cried when she told me. I feel such a stupid big fat failure

She told me I will have to have regualar u/s to monitor baby girls growth, I will be having an u/s this Thursday. I also have been booked into the Diabetic clinic and referred to a dietician. In the meantime I have to cut out sugar from my diet and do more exercise. Great, especially when I have the worlds sweetest tooth lol

So yeah, im not happy

OH no! I'm so sorry! Man, you're really getting hit this week! Well, at least they can treat it and the outcome will be good! And, you get more u/s visits (I'm realllly trying to make you feel better about this... probably not working, huh?) I'll be honest, if they told me to cut sugar right now, it would be really tough. But, a friend of mine had GD and the dietician was awesome and really helped her figure out foods she liked, needed, and could have... I hope it goes that well with you. When are you meeting with the dietician? Let us know how everything goes.

ughh that sucks Kate i'm sorry but you can't blame yourself...GD happens and at least the caught it promptly before it could cause your or your baby girl any issues. Have you been diagnosed with it previously or is this new for you? HUGS

Thanks ladies. I am just finding this really tough, Ive already had to throw out some stuff that I cant eat. I just want to cry, pathetic I know. But I have a really sweet tooth, I crave sweet thinsgs and now I cant have them I want them more

Lara this is totally new to me, I didn'nt have it in my previous pregnancies. I was overweight before I got pregnant with lily and passed the GTT then, so I was expecting to pass it this time too. So its come as a bit of a shock

I'm sorry for the news. It's going to be tough, but you've got 12 weeks before you due. I believe GD will resolve itself after the baby is born? Only 12 or so weeks more....

That bites Kate! Just think, it's only 12 weeks.
Hopefully the dietician can give you some good alternatives to curb the sweet tooth cravings.

Kate honey, I had it too with Tyler. You are not a failure! It's really not hard to manage. Pm me if you have any questions.

Aww, Kate. That really sucks. When you have your baby girl and the GD resolves itself, make sure you go out and get the biggest hot fudge sundae possible. You will certainly deserve it!
