Cecil had his 2 month check-up today and got his first set of shots and he had to have his little penis pulled back..... he was sooo upset by the time the appointment was over! BUT he seems to be doing OK right now....He is laying on my lap just a sleeping away (I think the Tylenol that I gave him has something to do with that)
So, he is now a whopping 11lbs 13oz, and is 24.25"long. At 1 month he was 8lbs 7oz and 22.25". Our Ped says that he hasn't really started his growth curve yet, and that he is still trying to "catch-up" Which he explained means that he still has some fast growing to do and thinks that he will get much longer and pack on a bunch of weight in the next couple of months. It looks like Cecil is going to be a BIG kid!
There were 2 things that concerned the ped during the exam, one we are supposed to work with Cecil on, and the other is just a wait and see. The first is that Cecil isn't really following objects with his eyes as well as he should, so we are going to practice that with him every day, and the other has to do with the sucking reflex. I had to bf Cecil right after the exam, and like he always does, Cecil choked and gagged right as I started feeding him. The ped asked if he does that often, and I said yes, but I thought it was my milk coming down too fast. He said no, is sounds like his sucking reflex is not right, and that he is aspirating milk which could lead to pneumonia. He said that if it doesn't get better by his next appt that he will refer us to a specialist. Hopefully it will be corrected on it's own though.
Good things, besides the eye exam, Cecil is right on track for a 2 month old baby, so being 5 weeks early hasn't really put him behind developmentally.
Here are some recent pics...
Cecil sitting in a kiddy pool for the first time - (the hat is from the 70's and was tooo cute on him!!) It was the only summer hat we had small enough to fit his head.
He is soooo cute. What a beautiful little guy. He's gorgeous! That hat is great...and it fits perfectly! I hope the feeding issue works itself out. And, in terms of the vision concern, Joey had the same thing. He didn't track as well as they wanted him to. We worked with him for just a few weeks and he was back on track!
It sounds like he's going to be a big guy! When he hits that growth spurt, hold on to your blue little hat from the 70s! He's gonna take off and fly up the charts! He's already getting big so fast.
DH must love that shirt! Way too cute. thanks for sharing.
Great weight and length.....it always just amazes me that he was born at 35 weeks! I bet the vision thing resolve itself. I am a bit freaked out by what your ped said about the gagging/choking thing because Juliana does it consistently too. I am starting to think she can't breathe through her nose well enough.

Kelly, I was a bit freaked out too, and I asked him if there was anything I could do to help with the choking, and he said no...That it just has to work itself out, but that if it continues, and he is unable to correct the sucking reflex on his own in the next couple of months that we move on to a specialist for help. He said that involves speech therapy (not sure how this is done on a baby??) and an ultrasound while he is nursing. He didn't go into much more detail than that.
wow Sam he's so darn cute!! as big as he is you'd never guessed he came so early...how did he like his first wading pool experience?? he looks soooo relaxed on those pictures (and the hat is adorable on him)!

He's so adorable, I love the ones of him in the swimming pool, we bought a little pool for Alex and yesterday was his first day on it. it's just so cool to see what they do, isn't it? I hope the sucking reflex thing corrects itself. When Alex had his 2 month appointment he was 3 months old, so some of the following thing with his eyes was no problem but at 2 months he wasn't all that good at it.
