Is anyone else really hesitant? I'm buying and making some things, but we aren't setting things up or anything just yet. I'm too worried something could happen.

And we'll be having the baby in our bedroom, so I don't want the reminder, G-d forbid anything happens.

Everyone in my DDC is all about making their nursery and buying loads of things, but I just... can't get into it. I've gotten some things people have gifted to me, but I haven't really bought any baby clothes. I have gotten lots of cloth diapers, but everything is all in boxes under the daybed in my office.

I'm not sure this will ever get real, or that I'll ever feel "safe" enough.

I had all the stuff for my nursery from DD....but didn't set it up until I was 36 weeks or so. I don't think I would have been ready at all if I hadn't have had so much "false labor" to get me moving. Good thing too, she did end up needing to come out early. Still, we had to put up her letters on the wall, set up our co-sleeper, and get out the pack n play AFTER we got home from the hospital.
The main thing I bought before she came was newborn cloth diapers.

I think I was about 30+ weeks when we had the nursery completely done, I didn't have to deal with my mom plus setting up the nursery, I remember that we had it done by Christmas eve. We also did not buy anything, the stuff we had was given to us. I think we did not buy something until sometime after we found out what were having.

Don't feel bad about not setting anything up yet...I think it's completely normal!

I didn't have Cecil's room set-up until 5 days before he came (and even then it wasn't all the way done) and heck, we didn't even have his name pick-out for sure until 2 days after he was born. Just take all the time you need, and when you are ready, you will know it

PAL definately takes all the naive-ness out of pregnancy...until the baby is here I don't think it ever feels safe...and even after that its a whole nother world of worries...I just got Kennedy's nursery done and I'm just now 36 weeks...I did buy clothes and stuff sporadically, but it was normally after a really good appt when I was on a "happy" pregnancy high...

Sorry your DDC is making such a fuss...thats why I never really posted in mine...

I know what you mean, I am just now setting up my nursery.
Actually, "I'm" not doing anything. DH is home right now putting the furniture together.
I just couldn't get myself to make any major purchases until about 30 weeks.
I think that is completely normal considering our past experiences in PAL.

I just started doing things this week. I can't bring myself to ever do a nursery as the boys slept in our room until 14 months. The only thing I have done is all of her things washed and put in her dresser, I have almost everything else but I will not set it up until 35-36 wks.

Don't worry Cheryl, i'm right there with you...we bought a couple of outfits (still in a bag with all their tags + receipts) but i haven't even started thinking about cribs, etc. We just have some really proactive women in the Dec DCC to have their nursery done already! I have this bad feeling if i don't get motivated soon that poor DH will be making an urgent visit to BRU after i've given birth

I'm in the same boat...I've worried so much that I've completely protected myself from the reality that this baby is coming. I have bought one outfit and a pair of booties/slippers. I have three onesies and a towel (that were gifts) and we've looked at strollers/carseats. That's it. Not knowing the gender of the baby is providing the perfect excuse not to do anything. I need to really start considering the nursery, bottles, a few more clothes, etc...Nope you are definitely not alone!!!! I agree with Danielle. It's easiest to shop after a great appointment...
