I am roughly 7 weeks pregnant. We saw the heartbeat for the first time on Monday. It was not there last Wednesday. My OB said it was a little slow but still early. So she scheduled us for another ultrasound today. The heartbeat is still there but she says we are not out of the woods and it heartbeat is still slow. She has an terrible ultrasound machine that can't do measurements or anything so I have no idea of how slow it actually is. We now have to go back next Tuesday for yet another ultrasound.

I don't understand why we can't wait a week or even 10 days in between ultrasounds. Having an ultrasound every 3 or 4 days is nerve racking especially since we just had our m/c. Plus my OB was very positive on Monday saying it's a good sign that there was no heartbeat the week before and now there is. Today she just said we're not out of the woods.

I would just like to have some time to enjoy my pregnancy without having to go to the doctor twice a week and worrying all the time. Has anyone had any experience with slow fetal heartrates and everything being okay? I would appreciate no negative posts here as I am trying to hang on to my sanity and be positive.

I'm sorry you are so worried right now. HUGS!!! Especially since the dr. can't measure the heart beat...how does she know that it's slow??? I've read that a hb of 100 and over is fine. So maybe your doctor is just freaking you out for nothing and just being overly cautious (sp?). I hope your u/s today goes well and your bean is growing and getting stronger. I'll be thinking of you.

It is SO stressful isn't it ((hugs)) Just try to remember that there *being* a heartbeat is a good sign... and if she couldn't measure the heartrate, then I don't know HOW she could have said it wasn't very fast? Silly woman....

Me. Juliana's first hb was 95, which they said was low and had me come back after a week. The next u/s was about 120, and it went up from there. I did lots of googling about this at the time. Here is what I learned: When the baby's heart first starts, it is roughly the same as the mother's heart rate. It then goes up about 5 beats per day. So, if your first u/s was very close to the day your baby's heart started beating, it should be pretty low...AND if that was only 3 days ago, it wouldn't have gone up that much yet...AND if your docs machine is that bad it would be awfully difficult for her to tell the difference between 85bpm and 100bpm (for example). Keep your chin up! I think everything is probably just fine.

Your baby is growing and developing...that's really good news. Without a measurement of the heartrate, I'm not sure that you've been given any conclusive info. I know that I've seen posts from women who had slower heart rates and it turned out that their dates were off. I'll be thinking of you. KUP. Here's hoping and praying that you're "out of the woods" by the next appt! Keep your chin up. I think doctors are guarded when they give patients news. It doesn't mean that it's bad news. I'm wishing you a great u/s!

I have no experience but I would tend to agree with the other ladies. I hope the next u/s gives you better news. Maybe you could ask for an u/s that can measure the size and beats?

I'm sorry you are so stressed right now Is there anyway your doc could use a better machine or send you somewhere with a better machine so you can get a measurement and stop all this stress?

Thinking of you.

I totally agree. Can they send you to the hospital lab or something? I will be keeping you and your little one in my thoughts and prayers. Please KUP.
