Hi,

I will be 11 weeks tomorrow. Last week I got a doppler and I have been trying to find the heartbeat every day but nothing so far. Most other ladies in my DDC that have dopplers or had the doctor try to find the hearbeat, have heard it by this time.

I am really starting to get worried.

Margo

I understand your fears.

But sometimes the dopplers in the Dr;s office can't pick it up until 14 weeks... If it's stressing you too much, give tem a call and tell them you can't hear it on your doppler and want to make sure everything is ok.

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and they will try to find the heartbeat and if tehy can't I will get an ultrasound.

I wasn't too worried before because I have had no spotting or cramping but I read a post on another board today about a woman who went in for an 11 week appointmnet and there was no hearbeat.

Thanks for the reply. I have a tilted uterus too which could be why I am not hearing anything but shouldn't the uterus be righting itself around this time anyways?

At my 20.5 week appt last week (measuring larger than that), the doc had a very hard time finding the hb. I have a tilted uterus and my baby's a mover and a shaker...didn't help with finding it!!! And even when she'd find it, it was gone in a split second! Have you tried waaaayyy down low in your pelvic bone??? Even over halfway through, that seems to be the place where my doc can "corner" it!!!

Good luck at your appointment--maybe even take your doppler in to see if you can get in a couple minutes of practice finding.

Hey - I'm tilted - it starts to flip around 8 weeks, but can take up to 14 weeks to flip all the way. When my doctor found my heartbeat with doppler, she had to go way down by my leg and push kinda hard. WAY down, right around the bikini line. I also have an anterior placenta - makes it harder too - if you have one, you may not know it if you have not had an u/s since the placenta started to develope. Also, did you rent or buy the doppler? Rented ones tend to be of higher quality, but could be very used and therefore starting to fail. Keep your chin up - let us know how tomorrow goes.

11 weeks is too early to be using a home doppler. I went to the doctor with the exact same problem at around 12 weeks and my doctor told me to put that thing away until at least 15 weeks. Especially if you have a tilted uterus. Good Luck at your appt.

plz try not to worry, i couldnt hear my baby until i was further along!! the reason they said is b/c she was implanted on the farther wall of my uterus

They couldn't hear ours at 13 weeks, but they could at 13w4d-I have no idea about placental placement or any kind of tilted anything, either.

I agree with what has been said. This is why I decided not to get a doppler, because I knew that it would just create something else for me to worry about.

I must have been doing it wrong or my doppler is not very good because my Dr. found the heartbeat in about 30 seconds.

I'm glad there was a heartbeat, Dopplers are nice tools to have, but knowing me, it would not be the best thing for my already addled brain to deal with. Congrats!
