I thought I was doing ok with this but I retested this morning and did not a big difference in lines. My last 4 losses were all chemical pregnancies. I would just barely double for the first week, then my levels would tank. I am so scared of this happening again.">

You can't go by the thickness of a line as a measure of your beta levels honey. I really feel you should get your betas drawn and monitored as a better way to gage how things are going, and don't pay the darkness (or lack thereof) of the line any attention.

Gothic, I have to wait to get levels drawn. My ob booted me after my last miscarriage to a high risk who wont take my ins. So I have to hunt down another. Though a lot of people say you cant tell by the color of a test, it's been my experience that you can. My last 4 losses were all chemicals. My Hcg never went past 50 and then started to fall. I knew before the beta's were back because of the home tests.

okay but generally speaking medically, you aren't supposed to do that. you shared your personal experience, now I will share mine....

with both of my living children (I have had eight miscarriages after they were born), both of them.... who are now 16 and 10 years old and very healthy.... my "home tests" I took showed fading lines... not disappearing completely but fading. One would be very light, the next darker, the next lighter, the next darker... drove me mad. That's when my doctor told me that you should never use tests as a way to gage hcg.

If you want to then that's fine. I'm just giving my two cents. We all have different experiences. Some things work sometimes and don't work others. What happens if you worry yourself like this, thinking your levels are dropping and you end up like I did? Completely fine with a healthy pregnancy.

I love the term I've seen other girls post here... "blissfully ignorant". You can't have your levels drawn, well don't worry yourself sick because stress can also make you miscarry and is that good for the baby? As one who has suffered multiple losses, let me tell you honey to ride the fence.... don't sign yourself out as doomed possibly, or in the safe zone as untouchable either... just take each day as it comes, and be prepared for things to go either way. That is the best any of us can do. Especially lacking a beta test. I will keep you and your little one in my thoughts.

one more thing... allow me to quote one of my fave poa sites lol, this might help ya:

"9. I took another test and the line is lighter. Does this mean anything? Should it get darker? Not necessarily. In general, the positive line will be darker when a greater amount of hCG is present in the urine, but not always. Some tests contain more or less dye (meaning there is just more or less color to "stick" to your hCG.) Some tests are more or less sensitive-- even 2 tests in the same box can be different. Also, your urine may have more or less hCG in it depending on what you ate or drank, or how long it's been since you last peed. Food itself does not cause false results, but can affect how much urine you have and how dilute it is. Eating salty chips and drinking caffeine all day will result in more concentrated pee, whereas gorging on watermelon and ginger ale will result in lots of very dilute pee. But an HPT is not meant to tell you "how" pregnant you are. It only tells you if you are pregnant or not. As long as there is a line in the results window, you are pregnant.

Some women experiencing early miscarriages do notice their lines getting fainter or disappearing entirely, but even if your line gets fainter, it is not a guarantee that you are miscarrying, or that anything is wrong. See FAQ 21 for normal levels of hCG and how to properly measure it. "

For the full quote see the Pee On A Stick FAQ on their site.

I completely understand your fears.....sometimes until we can get in for a beta test, the pee sticks are the only life line we have to know how the pregnancy is going. Many of us who have experienced multiple losses, use this method and although we know its not a true diagnosis, it gets us by until we get one.

I can tell you that I did have a day where the test stayed the same, even a little lighter than the day before, and by the next day it was darker again......if this is the first test you took that has shown a decrease in color, dont count yourself out yet. Give it another day and see what tomorrow brings you. I wish you could get a beta drawn on Monday, some how........walk in clinic, er, possiblly just a GP.

I pray that you can get some good news soon and that this little one holds on tight!

P.S. the two tests you are showing, really look the same.......thats a great sign!

ETA, sorry I did not close enough, today's is DARKER!

I totally know where you're coming from! I've been testing every single day this week to see the progression. Have you thought about buying a digital test with the conception indicator? That was the first test that I took and I plan to take the other one this week to ensure that the numbers have increased.

Also with my tests, they aren't looking much darker anymore, but I've noticed that the line is coming up a lot faster than it was earlier this week. That has to mean something right?

For what it's worth, I think the bottom test looks a little darker.

I have to agree with you... I have had three losses... I knew two of my losses were going to happen since the line didn't progress.. my third loss was due to Trisomny... I POAS every day... I am going to post so you can see... I got very worried on 11dpo.. since it was lighter than 10dpo than on 12dpo... the line really started to darken up...
Also I think it also has to do with the tests you are using.. I heard the pink wrapers.. don't progress as fast.... I had all white wrappers.. and than used Answer

I freaked myself out a bit with your tests because I think I am 14-16 day past conception, but then I remembered you have TWO in there!

They are the pink wrapper. I have heard from several others that they dont get darker until 20+ days.

I took a CBE on Thur. and one today it is MUCH darker but still not super dark. AND I also took a $ test on Thur. It was nearly invisible, todays was clearly a line but still light.

There is nothing I can do if it is another loss.

I am on progesterone, baby aspirin, folic acid and prenatals. I know the doc can do nothing to help me more than this right now.

^^ I took pink wrapper First Response and just wanted to let you know the test line never did get as dark as the control line. I had my betas draw and they were way high, but the test line just maxed out lighter than I would have expected. I think the pics you posted are very nice positive test and the bottom one does look darker than the top to me as well. Hang in there. I know how hard these first few weeks are!

it can be really hard to not over analyse what the line is or isn't doing... but to me, the 2nd test does look darker.

I can't be of any help with the pregnancy tests... I may have taken one or two extra but not many. I had my betas drawn right away and just went by that. I wanted to wish you good luck though. I hope you find a high risk OB soon who will take your insurance!

I can totally relate! My test today at 14 dpo IS darker than 13 dpo...but it is not as dramatically darker as the others were in comparison, you know? I am just going to try to relax (I know, funny right??).

Good Luck!

Katie

I can totally understand where you are coming from. With my 2 chemical pregnancies my tests also went lighter as the hcg was coming down. So with this pregnancy I started to freak out on the 2nd day when my line got lighter. But as you can see it went darker again. So who knows what caused it.

BTW I think your line does look darker on the 2nd day! Sending you tons of sticky dust!!!!!
