I failed my 1 hour glucose screen last week and I had my 3 hour GTT yesterday. My Dr's appt was this morning to go over the results.

***UPDATE*** OK, so I failed. I officially have GD. I'm a little bummed.

I only failed by 4 points total:
-fasting draw: passed
-1 hour draw: over by 1 point
-2 hour draw: passed
-3 hour draw: over by 3 points

So it sucks that I was sooooo close but it's black or white, pass or fail...so I'm definitely borderline but I still have to be labeled.

I'm going to be seen at least once by the OB clinic since they are the specialists. After that, they *should* release me back to my Family Practice Dr. without any problems. And he told me that if it's my preference to stay with him, then I need to voice that to the OBs. As long as I don't have crazy, uncontrollable GD, he should be able to handle my case.

I have to do accuchecks twice a day and watch my diet. Hopefully that will control everything. And I have an appt. at 9am in the morning to see the OB Diabetes Nurse so she can go over everything with me.

Good news is the baby is fine, good hb, he's moving around like crazy, I'm measuring 28cm so right on track, and I've only gained 2 lbs in the last month!!! Plus we talked about my wishes at delivery and my Dr. is 100% all for natural/no meds labor and no incucing until at least 41 weeks, which makes me so happy because I know I won't have to fight him on that one.

Oh, I'm sorry about the GD...that sucks. But, glad to hear baby is doing well. Just think of all the good stuff you will be putting in your body on the GD diet...baby will love you for that!

Sounds like you have a good doctor!

I think it's kind of ironic that since getting pregnant I've been eating so much better. I'm not gonna lie and say I never indulge in McDonald's or Oreos...but for the most part I eat well and don't consume much junk. But I guess french fries and cookies are off the menu now. Hopefully I will lose a few pounds in the process since I have plenty of weight to spare.

Sorry you failed the gulcose test BOOO!!! Having GD does suck but it is not the end of the world and it does not last forever...even if it may feel like it when you really want a waffle and you know you can't eat it...just sayin

Glad that you will be able to control the GD with diet and good luck at the dietitians tomorrow. You will learn a lot!

BTW I have had GD with my DD & DS and will most likely end up with it this time too. If you need anything, advise about food, yummy cheats (Watermelon! It is a natural directic so it helps with swelling, has more potasium than a banana, and it metabolizes different so it will not raise your BS as much as other fruits!), or just to vent please PM me anytime!

Glad to hear that your OB is on board with the NCB! That is awesome that s/he is so supportive!

Like you said, your GD is borderline. You should be able to control it with dietary adjustments.

Such a bummer. But, it's controllable and everything else is going really well. Overall....GREAT news. (Good job on the weight gain, too! I don't think I ever only gained two pounds!. I always felt like I was gaining in the double digits )

HUGS... I am sure the Nurse will be able to give info... My best friend had it years ago... and she was so worried she would need to give herself shots.. but the nurse gave her so many great ideas.. that it never came to that.. and she was much higher than boarder line!! Great to hear the baby is doing great!!! YEA!!!

Awww, sorry to hear that! I know how devastated I was that I failed the tests this time around too. I failed it spectacularly though, my numbers were much higher. I have been able to manage it with just diet though, so have faith, I'm sure you will be great at managing it too.

Glad to hear everything else went well though!!!
