Hi Ladies,

I just got back from my OB's office.... I had some pain overnight so they did an ultrasound which showed a 6w5d fetus with a HB of 126... and a subchorionic hemorrhage, as big as the baby and it's sack. For those who don't know, it is rare (<1% of pregnancies get this) but I had it with my last pregnancy, and eventually bled out and lost the baby at 8 weeks. I was told the risk of having another one was no greater having had one but I do. I was given basically a 'wait and see' prognosis, and that like last time it could go either way. He did say given my history that is not a positive factor.

I asked if he thought I have a clotting disorder and he said he wouldn't jump to say that but that they can't work me up for it while pregnant because the results would be inaccurate. He said if I do have another loss we'd have to wait 3 months and get worked up for it. I asked about taking baby aspirin or heparin or lovenox but he said where we don't know if it is a clot or a bleed that could make things worse. He said basically to take it easy although studies don't show a difference in outcome by taking it easy, and I am on pelvic rest again.

Please pray for us.... I am so numb right now. I don't know how to cope with another roller coaster for weeks and possibly months ending in another loss.

Thanks.

I know I posted already in TTCAL, but I want to let you know again how sorry I am. You should not have to go through this, it's not fair. I will just keep on wishing you a good outcome!!!!!!

Thank you ladies. I will definitely keep you all posted. So far I have not had any bleeding with this PG but it started around 6w4d with my loss so I'm just waiting and seeing for now. I have another appt and ultrasound next week to check on things, and we'll figure out how often I will need to be seen.

Owens Mommy, was yours a big SCH? Do you still have it? Have you had any problems because of it?

I am hoping that the baby will be okay. I know one of the women in my PR had this as well and started bleeding, but the baby was okay. My fingers are crossed for that same outcome for you.

My SCH was about half the size of baby, It was resolved by 19 weeks and honestly I had a small amount of bleeding and cramps from 6-15 weeks. I was monitored closely. My SCH never got bigger.
I had an SCH when I was pregnant with DS too, but I DID NOT have one with my loss. For me, it seems SCH's are a part of a regular pregnancy. SCH's are actually more common than the research suggests, roughly 25% of normal pregnancies have them. My Midwife says she sees them alot and they are mostly harmless and resolve before 20 weeks.

I'm praying for you. I had two SCHs with my successful pregnancy - the little girl in my siggie is, as you can see - fine! I don't know how big they were- they were found when she was 8 weeks (I started spotting - and had an u/s scheduled a few hours later - I was so terrified) and they were smaller than her.
Anyway - hoping you get the same happy ending!!!!
