Since I quit smoking I gained 15lbs and I just started working out on the stair stepper for 15 minutes a day. Do you think it is safe to continue or should I stop?

My midwife told me that it is safe to continue any exercise that you did previous to getting pregnant, but not to start any new exercise regimens without discussing it with a Dr first...

You don't want to be doing anything harder but it's great to exercise regularly. I hear it makes labor easier too. I know I need to at least do some walking.
Congrats again btw

Absolutely Keep going as long as you feel good. You can also slowly do a little more - or add walking - anything gentle. (I mean check with your midwife - but slowly adding a minute onto the 15 you already do won't hurt! ) Just listen to your body. I rode my bike until there was too much snow and ice (my midwife and DH begged me to stop when the snow came - so I did) and then got back on when it melted. I rode until a week before DD was born. I stopped because I could feel her raising up in my pelvis and I wanted her to engage more.
Anyway - exercising will help with labour, and help keep your blood pressure down, help you feel good while your pregnant, not gaining too much weight and help you recover after birth!

Thanks! I think I will switch to the treadmill and walk until after my 1st trimester.

That's it in a nutshell, I think they summed it up perfectly... I was going to say the same thing, keep it and don't over do it or push yourself too hard. Listen to your body for sure!
