I am not sure if I am in the right place or not but I have a question about HCG and positive pregnancy test ...

I miscarried 30 days ago bleeding took 7 days so it ended approximately 21 days ago

My fertility doctor told me to start Provera if no cycle 30 days from start of miscarriage

I have always been told to test before starting the Provera and anticipating to start it tomorrow I just tested and it's positive, so my thought is surely I still have left over HCG right?

My baby stopped growing at 6 weeks, did 1 round of the "abortion" pill at 8 weeks did not work did a second round at about 10-11 weeks and it worked so baby died 6 wks but took much longer to pass do not know if that factors in to anything or not.

Thank you!

I am so sorry for your loss. I would contact my dr before taking the pills. Have you and DH been DTD? If you have been together it could be a new pregnancy. It seems odd your dr wouldn't follow your hcg levels to ensure they dropped to zero or do an u/s to ensure everything passed.

I would LOVE for it to be a new pregnancy but after what we just went through and how long it took and what a toll it took on us I am very leary...

I have no clue as to why my dr did not want to follow up. And this is my fertility specialist that puts me on all the drugs LOL

I also had a trip to the ER a week after the miscarriage the ER just called my dr the dopped me up b/c of pain and sent me on my way dr has not called to check or anything.... I dunno what to do....

oops yes DH and I have DTD several times maybe every other day off and on for 2.5 weeks

If the pregnancy lasted all the way to 11wks, even though the baby stopped growing at 6wks, your hcg could of been pretty high. Just because the baby stopped at 6wks, your body did not realize it and kept producing the hcg. Since you basically had a natural m/c v's a d&c, I would say you have a good probability of left over hcg in your system. The only way to know for sure, is for you to have your levels tested over a few days to see if their climbing or not.

Hoping the very best for you!

It could be left over HCG or it could be a new pregnancy. The only way to know is to call your doctor and get some blood tests run. They will test your HCG and then again 48 hours later.... If it is going down, it is left over from your loss. If it is going up it is likley a new pregnancy....

I am so sorry for your loss, they are really hard to go through. I think you will find a lot of support and ladies in a similar situation over in the Trying to Conceive After Loss board.... You are of course welcome here, and I hope to hear news about a new sticky pregnancy from you soon!

It could very well be left over HCG. This happened to me too after my m/c (natural). About 4 or 5 weeks after I took a test and it was positive. But I took a couple more later on, and they got lighter to nothing.

My Dr. didn't track my HCG to 0 either. I had an ultrasound at the hospital and she said everything was passed.

I hope to see you here soon with a sticky BFP!

It could be left over HCG from your miscarriage but also a new pregnancy...I would place a call into the dr and ask for blood work. Do NOT take any meds until know 100%.

I got pregnant with the twins 16 days after my miscarriage...so it is posiable...I knew for sure though that my HCG was zero because my OB followed it down...plus I got a positive OPK. You more fertile after a miscarriage so you never know...we ended up with surprise twins.

Thank you so much for your in put. I am having a beta drawl tomorrow. I am almost certain that it is left over HCG, but I have just a tiny grain of hope LOL I tested again today still positive and the test is darker.... but I know that all depends on the concentration of the "wee" lol

Very sorry for your loss! I hope you recover quickly, it's never easy to heal after a miscarriage.
