Jess P thanks for PMing, me I'm sorry I didn't get back to you until now! I was at the birthplace (L&D building at my hospital) Friday night for blurry vision and high BP, and then I got home late and worked all weekend and today has been crazy so this is my first chance to update!

I had Pre E with my daughter who is 21 months, and it started around 27-28 weeks with her, I had PIH first (just the hypertension but not pre E) until around 35 weeks then it became Pre E. So my MW has been keeping a close eye on my BP, esp. in the last few weeks.

This pregnancy my BP has been really good (110/60's) which is my baseline anyway and on Friday afternoon after DD and I woke up from a nap I was seeing double a little so I checked my BP at home on my monitor. I had an appt. 2 days before and it was 118/66, and on Friday at home it was 135/83 so a little high but not super high. My OB's office was closing in a few minutes so I called the nurse and she said to go to the birthplace. I waited for DH to get home (he was already on his way) and we went.

They monitored baby and I for around 2 hours, and on arrival there my BP was 145/85, but it did eventually come down to 122/72 on it's own. They checked my urine and I had no protein, and they sent blood work to check for Pre E and it all came back negative. Baby boy was moving around a ton and looked great.

So they said I could go home and go to work this weekend (I'm a nurse) as long as my BP looked OK and I had no other symptoms. I am to check my BP once a day at home and it's been OK all weekend, even though it was crazy at work and I was soo busy!

So, hopefully that is the end of it, I go back to my OB on April 12 for a regular check up and a growth ultrasound to check on little boy.

Thanks for asking about me!

Glad all is okay. Those scares must not be fun. Hopefully the next 10 or so weeks will be without incident!

I'm so glad everything was fine. Sometimes I get weird dizzy/out-of-breath spells and I think it's just from the baby's position messing with my lung capacity. She usually moves again in a matter of minutes though. I wonder if your little guy was sitting on some major vein or artery or something, and that's what got your BP and vision a little weird for awhile? Anyway just a thought. I'm glad your BP is generally great this pregnancy Take it easy at work (if you can)!!! Thanks for the update!

I don't really know much about Pre-E. Is there nothing they can do, but monitor it?

I'm glad you're alright. Must be scary! I hope your BP stays in the normal range and you don't have to go back to L&D.

Thanks Ladies!

Jenny, there are some things they can do, if my BP stays high they can start me on medication for it, or restrict my activity or put me on bedrest. If it gets really severe the only cure is delivery of the baby. I was on restricted activity and not allowed to work with my DD from 33 weeks to 36w5d and then it was getting bad enough that they had to induce me, and she was born at 36w6d.

I'm hoping that is not in the cards this time!

It is great to see you in here! Do you work in the hospital you are giving birth in? I am sorry you had a scare.

Thanks Missy! I don't work where I'll give birth, the hospital I work in is huge but they do not do any maternity or pediatrics, only adults. I'll be giving birth a little closer to home ( I work an hour away from home) at a local hospital where I gave birth to my daughter.
