What is the difference between a baby shower and a baby sprinkle? I keep seeing each mentioned and don't have a clue.

Are you/Did you have one?

From what I understand it's just smaller. lol Which means that all I've ever had are sprinkles.

I've never heard of a sprinkle. Sounds like someone thought they were witty and made it up, then everyone else went a long with it. "Baby Sprinkle", to me, sounds like the baby is peeing.

It's a smaller "shower" usually thrown for baby #2, 3...etc. I have NOT had one and probably won't have one. My baby shower with DD was about 30-35peope That's alot to me!

At a sprinkle you get "sprinkled" with smaller, more useful/necessary gifts instead of the big things you already have.

If we are having a girl, we'll be having a baby shower, meaning people would bring clothes diapers wipes anything and everything! If it's a boy, we'll have a baby "sprinkle" because we'll have everything we already need except diapers and wipes really! So for the first baby you are showering the mother to be in gifts, but it's assumed with subsequent children that you won't need the big stuff or possibly even clothes so it's just a smaller thing

Ditto to what has already been said.

A shower is usually larger and for first children.

A sprinkle is usually smaller and for subsequent children.

I had a shower for Olivia. My mom threw me one last month.

If you have a sprinkle do you still register at places? I don't see myself having a baby shower as I have 3 boys but then again the youngest is 16 so...

But then my friends are all scattered all over the country so I can't see them all coming here for a big party.

Ill be having a Barbeque baby shower. lol Its my 5th but my df's first, and my youngest are 12 so I obviously do not have anything left. Im due in August, so I figured having a big summer backyard bbq would be more fun for everyone, men, women, kids... just a big welcome to the baby.
Ive also never heard of a sprinkle, but Im with Courtney, sounds too much like 'tinkle'.
