Hi ladies, I just introduced myself in an earlier thread. I had my blood drawn on Tue at 9 dpo here are my levels, I know its early, but I am concerned about the progesterone level.

HCG: 11
Progesterone: 8
TSH: 1.22

Just to give you a little background. With DS my boobs were super sore weeks 2-5, with the baby I lost they were not, do you think that could be low progesterone? I also had spotting my entire pregnancy with William starting at 6 weeks. I also started getting pre-term crazy contractions at 16 weeks with DS. They diagnosed me with irritable uterus and never checked my progesterone levels? Now I have read that low progesterone can cause pre-term birth and contractions. I had pre-term labor with William at 31 weeks and delivered at 37.
Figured someone here would know more about low progesterone and pregnancy loss than I do, sorry so long!

Many doctors will give you supplements for low progesterone. Did you ask your doctor about your number? I don't know much about it as I haven't had low numbers. Many ladies here have been on the supplements and went on to have healthy pregnancies.

You totally need to speak to your doctor as your levels seem low. My doctor looked for at least 10 in a non medicated cycle and at least 20 in a medicated cycle. Did you call your doc?

Mine was 20 and they wanted it above 15. I was also told, the higher your progesterone, the stronger your symptoms can be. I would definitely call and talk to your doctor.

I called my doctor today and the nurse gave me the old, "well there is no firm research that proves progesterone supp. help" Well I told her I didnt care, I would rather aire on the side of caution. She put me on a Progesterone gel vaginal insert (Crinone) of 8% every other day. Does that sound about right? I was only 9dpo so she said I was tech. still in the Leuteal phase and it will prob go up on its own....I hope so. I get my HCG, and Progesterone drawn on Tuesday of next week. Do you think I should go in sooner, or do you think thats ok?
Thanks a bunch

every day or every other day? The gel inserts are what my RE prescribes and they work great and are easy to use.

Just wanted to add...don't expect a giant jump in your progesterone levels and for some reason I can't get my explanation wording correct.

The inserts don't show up in the blood stream the same as the pills do. So you may not see a huge jump even if there is one. Or so I have been told. Glad that you got the supplements. Fingers crossed for you.

Mine started at 8.12 with this pregnancy, i was put on Progesterone in compound form 1x vaginally it was 200mg pill. The level was never checked again. I spotted some on it, took it til 13wks and was also doing baby aspirin suggested by my dr since it couldn't hurt til 12wks.

With my loss in november it started at 8.00, i had to hound that dr to prescribe it same as above but it was only 100mg pill, after 3 nights on it it was checked at 22.79,the next time it was checked it was 7.76 i didn't miscarry for another 13days. The whole time i was on it i bleed off and on like af and sometimes even just spotted. I honestly don't think it was enough progesterone.

With those levels being taken at only 9dpo, I agree, it can go up on its own. I was not quite 7 weeks and my level was 9.7 (tested because I had some bleeding) and I was put on 100mg pill to take orally until 12 weeks. They never actually tested my levels again because I had no spotting and the ultrasounds looked good.

Good luck honey!

Hi

Your story sound very similar to mine, I have a progesterone issue. This pregnancy I was put on 100mg 3X a day after we lost a twin at 8 weeks. At 16 weeks I will start the 17P shot to help prevent preterm labor.

I am very glad that they gave you the progesterone

Thanks all, I am not sure of the milligams...it just says 8% and she told me to take it every other day? Should I ask to take it everyday? Or just wait to see what my progesterone levels say next Tue?
