Today I had my first prenatal appointment and I will update you all soon but I need to get to work and wanted to tell you that I am past AMA (Advanced Maternal age) and am considered Elderly Maternal Age. I asked them for a cane today... LOL LOL LOL I told them I will run circles around the younger girls in the delivery room... LOL LOL LOL

LOL oh geez.... I wonder what John Travolta's wife Kelly Preston was then? Wasn't she 47?

I'm AMA, I wonder what the cut off is for EMA LOL.

Talk about a boost to your self esteem, right Missy?

holy crud i had no idea they even have that phrase...i will kick my OB *hard* if they try to pin that label on me! If you can't get a senior's discount, no chance i'm letting someone call me "elderly"

I googled it and couldn't find it used anywhere except to say that AMA was more appropriate to say because women got offended by EMA.

I guess they use EMA in my hospital. I totally thought it was funny as I am very young acting and in spirit. I am thinking of playing a joke at some point with like fake teeth falling out or something... Just to have fun with it.

You totally should! You could probably get a cane for cheap at a thrift shop or something. That would be hilarious!

What a "sweet" thing for your doc to say!! I haven't ever heard that term before, either, and thought maybe it was a joke when I saw your post title. I'm with Lara, if they are going to give you that label, maybe you should ask for some sort of discount. I have no doubt that you WILL run circles around the others in the delivery room!
