Are you going to pierce their ears?
If so at what age?
If not when would you let them make that decision for themselves?
Why or why not?

I have not pierced her ears yet. I plan to wait until she starts asking, and then hopefully hold off until she can do most of the care herself.

I pierced Paige's ear's when she was 5mo, and I did Mia's at 2 mo's. I plan to do Selena's ears at 2mo's too.

Paige's got infected about 2 or 3yrs old, and I took them out (she started to become sensitive to metals) and she would not let me put new ones in. We re-peirced them when she was 7 (when we did Mia's) She has since had two infections, and is now only wearing sterling silver or gold.

Mia has been doing great with hers, she has some swelling about 5mo's after doing her's, but I just took the earing out and let it heal for 24hrs and put them back in. She has been fine ever since.

They are alot of care, but I love them, and know how to properly look for signs of infection and switch them out to different metals if needed.

We did Linda at 6 months. She is semi sensitive to some earings so I am careful and one I really wish wasn't so close to the edge of the ear. We will do Kaitylnn's at 6 months as well. My mom did my sister and I and we both did our girls. I think its adorable and don't mind the care either. Linda hardly wears earrings now though . She tends to lose them.

My mom did mine at 9 months, and my sisters at successively younger ages. I couldn't ever decide if I wanted to do Erin's so hers aren't. lol When she asks for it, I'll talk to her about it and see if she's ready. If she wants to and I feel like she can take care of them, then we will.

Probably the same for Allison.

Are you going to pierce their ears? yes
If so at what age? undecided, part of me wants to do it as a baby and part of me wants to have her ask for it
If not when would you let them make that decision for themselves? yes, if we don't get it done as an infant.
Why or why not?

Are you going to pierce their ears? No

If so at what age? Not sure. My 8-year-old doesn't have hers pierced yet.

If not when would you let them make that decision for themselves? Again, not sure. My 8-year-old has asked, but not seriously enough about it. She is afraid of needles, so that has stopped her from really pushing for it.

Why or why not?
We had my first daughter's ears pierced when she was a baby. When she was about 8 she had a serious reaction to nickle, her ear lobe swelled up and she pulled at it without telling us (her hair covered her ears most of the time), and by the time we realized it her ear lobe had split. She made comments that she wished we had never pierced her ears at the time. We had to wait for a year for it to heal. I also had my ear lobe split around the same age, but with me it was because I got my earring caught on something and my hole was already close to the edge because I have such small lobes. Anyway, to get to the point, with DD#2 we decided not to get her ears pierced until she is much older and really wants it done, and that time just hasn't arrived yet. We'll be doing the waiting approach with DD#3, too.

Also, I find that my second daughter's unblemished earlobes are beautiful and not something you see too often these days (kind of like trying to find a 20-year-old without a tattoo these days). She is very feminine looking even without her ears pierced.

Are you going to pierce their ears?I don't think so

If so at what age? Not sure

If not when would you let them make that decision for themselves? lol well at 18 and out of my house it is completely her decidion.

Why or why not? Just not feeling it. My DD#1 had hers done ASAPmay be three months old. She was completely bald and it ws cute. She is 10 now and reacts to metal. Even nice earings make me react these days.

Are you going to pierce their ears? I have Moose who's 3 and we didn't get hers done.

If so at what age? n/a

If not when would you let them make that decision for themselves? Probably around 10 or 12 I think. As long as she's serious about it, and can take care of them herself, age is irrelevant!

Why or why not? I don't have my own done. Have never really been an earring girl. So, I know nothing about them and don't really want the added "work" of taking care of them. When she's old enough, she can do whatever she wants.

Are you going to pierce their ears? No, not immediately.

If so at what age? I was 10 when I got mine, so maybe by then if she's ready for it? I don't know for sure.

If not when would you let them make that decision for themselves? Teenager maybe.

Why or why not? Whenever I think she's ready and when she is old enough to take care of it.
