I have no idea what is causing me to have this anxiety. But today I felt like I was going to have a panic attack. My chest was tight, I felt really on edge. I don't know if maybe my worry over her arriving early is manifesting as anxiety. Anyone else dealing with these while pregnant? Any ideas on how to relax?

I'm so sorry you're dealing with the Jess. I have "panic attacks" a lot, not just pregnant. I get that tight feeling, and I feel like I can't breathe...edgy too. I find I have them when I'm shopping or know I have to spend money (I'm CHEAP). lol
And since I got pregnant this time I get them a lot.

I try and breath in slow, even breaths. Sometimes (depending on what I think is causing it) I will "say" a mantra in my head as I breathe in and out (like maybe you can say, "My little girl is healthy"(breathing in), "She will not arrive too early"(Breathing out)...

I sounds "hokey" but thinking my mantras helps me keep my breathing at a slow pace and also can be soothing.

Sometimes, settling down for a few minutes with a cup of hot tea...or if you are "free" taking a warm shower...those things help me at times too.

((HUGS)) and of course we're always hear to listen!

I have had them when not pregnant. I guess as I get closer I worry more that something will happen. I will try the tea and mantra next time thanks.

I have anxiety disorder that I've been on and off meds for for years. I get them pregnant or non pregnant. I don't have a lot of advice on how to make it better other than to breath slowly and try to focus on something else. I'm really at with bringing myself out of them.

Jess.

I can't offer anything really. I find I'm too busy now to get too much anxiety (maybe that's a solution, but on bedrest I guess that's kinda hard). I fear that when DH's work calms down a bit (after this week is over) I might start to feel a little more.

I hope they go away as fast as they came back. I think maybe because we're getting closer new fears are creeping in (at least for me the new fears are there, just not anxiety yet).

I understand what you are going through. I used to get pretty bad anxiety attacks but now, when not pregnant, i take a xanax when i feel it coming on and that is a huge help. Of course now, i don't have any medical solution, and luckily it has only been once or twice, but i do try to control my breathing first and then try to pin point where it is coming from and rationally talk it through with dh instead of letting the issue build up only in my own head.

Hopefully you can get some relief soon.

The past few weeks I have had about 5 full blown out panic attacks lasting about 30-40 minutes each. I don't think it has anything to do with this pregnancy though. It is all my job and money related. I am really hoping that all improves before Scarlett gets here.

The only thing I do is just sit quietly and try to close my eyes and tell myself this is just temporary. I also tend to favor eating snacks during them as well. (like potato chips).

Thanks ladies. I had a break down today and DH hugged me and let me cry. I think this baby shower is more stress than I thought it would be. My family just stresses me out. I feel really unprepared. I am going shopping next week and that should help some.

Why is your baby shower causing you stress Jess? Aren't you just supposed to show up and have fun that day?
