Are you or did you have a baby shower? Lets chat about it.

I will probably not have an official baby shower as everyone is so spread out across the county but we did register and I am sure Scarlett will get some presents. Her JM Auntie KaryRN already got her a few presents (I need to take pictures)

Nope. I have no family in the state, and just a couple friends, and I've already got a boy and a girl.

I don't mind though. She's already gotten a lot of presents. lol

I probably won't but I'd like one! It's a bit of a sore spot for me as I didn't have one with ds either. It's a somewhat silly Jewish superstition to not have anything for baby in the home prior to birth. Most people to get some essentials but showers are just taboo. So my mom won't throw one for me, and if she did none of my side of the family would go. Dh's family would probably go if I had one, and if it was my first child then my local friends would have thrown me one, but I can't exactly ask anyone to do it for a second child. I'll get plenty of presents once the baby comes as we will either have a bris when he is 8 days old or a baby naming when she is 3 months old depending on gender, so it isn't about the gifts But I kinda wanted a little party for me before baby comes.

I'm not sure. My Mom and best friend want to give me a shower...they've said they wanted to since I got my BFP...but I said no way. Now that we know we're having a girl, Steve thinks I should let them do it and they are clamoring to.

I had a shower for Ben and Nate...but the people I had at Ben's did not come to Nates (didn't invite, didn't want to obligate them). But I would be inviting a lot of the same people that I invited to Nate...SOOOO...I feel kind of funny having another shower a little less than 4 years later. My Mom and friend say it doesn't matter because we're having a girl. I don't know...

No, as we had one 3 years ago with Moose. I imagine people might buy him some stuff when he's born. I wish I could have a party though. No gifts, just like the games and door prizes and drinks and stuff. It'd be nice to be around a bunch of women having fun!!

I am having one this weekend . My sister really wanted to throw one for us and I had friends asking if/when the shower was . So I gave in. I am actually excited to see my friends and celebrate this precious little girl joining our family. The gifts are just a bonus . I only have my mom and sister for family. The rest is just friends locally.

I probably won't. With my last pregnany I was 'home' and so some of my friend's wanted to thruogh me a shower, I had just registered when we found out he wasn't going ot come home with us

Now we are not 'home', we moved across the country. I do have friends here, but I don't think they are going to plan a shower, and I won't expect them too.

I would like to have a party though, like mentioned above; no presents just an excuse to eat cake and have fun. I may do that on my own. "Welcome Baby" or "Celebrate Life" type party.

Nope. In my area showers are only thrown for the first baby. But I had three showers for that baby (church, work, and family) so that makes up for it.

My last baby shower was in the fall of 2000! I think since I've gotten rid of all of my prior baby stuff and there's been an 11 year gap since the last one I could probably get away with one. hehe I think my sisters are going to throw me one after the holidays.

I had one with DS, so I won't have one with this one. Had I not lost one of the twins then i would have had one.

Nope. My family is the type that only does one shower per family, not one per baby. I had 3 with DS- one family, one my coworkers threw, and one of my student's moms put together a huge surprise shower from all of the kids.

I had a small one with Mia, about 6 people, and it was nice! Im sure my sister, father and some of Jerry's family will get her some nice presents when she is born, but no more showers. I dont really need anything, as Mia was just born last September and they get to be in the same gender/season for clothes! I do get to buy another crib though as Mia will be in hers for a couple of more years. So I went out and got a whole nursery for the girls already, that was fun. They are moving into the big room where my son used to sleep, we just finished painting and will start decorating soon. Im excited!

Nope. Generally we only have one for your first child.

But I wouldn't mind a "sprinkle" - the smaller version. I guess it would be like what Jenny wants: cake, games and hanging out with our lady friends!

We won't have another big one like with DD (40 people) but I'm sure my immediate family will do something, especially if it's a boy.

It's way too soon to know. I don't expect one. If it is a boy, some clothes would be nice, but we have most everything. There are a few new things I want including a new baby monitor, but overall we should be pretty set.

I wasn't planning on it, but one of my friends really wanted to throw me one, so I'm having one next month. My kids are far apart (first two were almost 11 years apart, and this one will be 8 years younger than our second daughter), so we're basically starting over again. I have many different friends than I did with our last shower over 8 years ago, so it will be nice to celebrate this baby with them. For me, that's what the shower is really about... celebrating the impending arrival of the baby with family and friends.
