For the past few hours I have had a shooting/stabbing pain just under my right set of ribs that extends through my back and sometimes into my right arm making it numb. The pain is so fierce at times it is making it hard to breathe.

I am going to call my doctor but has anyone experienced this before?

I have not, but I hope it turns out to be nothing serious.

I actually had something similar earlier this summer (maybe when I was around 20 weeks?). I had a really sharp stabbing pain in my right ribs whenever I moved certain ways or took in a breath, and it got so bad for one evening that I could barely even sit in a chair doing nothing. I called my OB's office just to check and they said that the only pregnancy-related thing it could be was a gall bladder issue, so to follow up with them if I had digestive issues. Mine slowly got better over the course of about a week or so and I assumed it was a torn muscle or pinched nerve or something.

I would call the doctor and see what they say. I hope it goes away quickly and is nothing serious!

I get feelings like that when my back is really out of place. It doesn't hurt so much on my actual spine, but I get a stabbing feeling when I breathe, and it radiates across my shoulder and arm.

Sometimes it can be normal from all the stretching, growing, pulling. Sometimes it can be your gall bladder. I hope that it's nothing serious.

I don't think it is anything serious as the pain decreased a lot. The clinic I go to is in the hospital and they said if it continues to stop in anytime this weekend.

Thanks Girls!

I get something similar when I'm sitting for any length of time.....always in my right lower ribs, and at the same level in my back. My OB said it was probably a pinched nerve. If itks gallbladder it usually after you eat a meal and I think the bakc pain occurs in between the shoulder blades.

Mine has gotten worse as Dawson has gotten bigger. I hope ot goes away for you Missy!

it sure sounds like a nerve is irritated. hmmm...maybe due to a growing belly/baby moving things around I am so glad it has subsided and hopefully it won't return!

That's it! It gets bad if I am sitting in my work chair for a long time. I need to remember to walk around every half hour or so. Thanks!!
