I failed the 1 hour test - have to go in on Friday for a 3 hour. Yuck. I hope I don't have to do insulin shots.

I read someone else recently saying (maybe in here?) that they failed the 1 hour test but passed the 3 hour test.

Good luck!

Sorry to hear you have to take the 3hr... I actually opted out of GD testing. My DH is diabetic, so I just took the test at home with his monitor. My doc was ok with this option.

I failed the 1-hour with my son and passed the 3-hour. I've heard that's pretty common. It just sucks that you have to sit around for 3 hours and get poked 4 times.

Bummer. I really hope you pass the 3 hour. My midwife didn't make me do a glucose test so I have no idea how these things go...

I think I asked to lay down for the pokes when I had to do it (I have a history of fainting with blood draws). They do one as a fasting number and then again 1, 2, and 3 hours after you drink the glucose drink. There are certain cutoff points for each of the four draws and "passing" is being below the cutoff for 3 or more of them.

I failed last year with Mia's pregnancy and past the 3hr with flying colors! The fasting part really sucked big time, make sure you take the test as EARLY in the a.m. as possible! You will be there for 3hrs and cannot eat/drink or even walk around the room!

I did pass this time, but RIGHT ON THE CUT OFF, lol. My dr.'s cut off is 140 and I passed with a 140! I'll take it though, he said it was pass/fail.......not how close you got.

I did fail by only 5pts with Mia, but like I said, Its a pass/fail.....do you know your numbers? My dr. said that he only worry's about women over 190-200. He said anything below that usually pass's the 3hr.

Missy they do poke you 4 times BUT I found that if you get the most experienced nurse in there that it isn't so bad. Sorry you failed this one and I hope the 3 hour one you pass with flying colors!

Sorry you failed the 1-hour. I failed the 1-hour with Danica but passed the 3-hour. This time I went directly to the 3-hour hoping to avoid having to do it twice...and I passed!

Hope you pass the 3-hour with no problem.

Thanks Lori - I feel much better. My number seems only slightly elevated then - It was 148. Phew I feel more confident about the test tomorrow now. I am taking it at 9:30am.

Thank you for all your advice and support girls!
