For those of you who are taking, or who did take, baby aspirin during pregnancy, when do you stop taking it?

I know I need to stop it before labor, but I'm scared to stop too soon. I was never specifically tested for a clotting disorder, but since strokes and hyperhomocystenemia run in my family, I decided to take baby aspirin and extra folic acid after my second miscarriage. I'm terrified that if I stop too soon I'll develop a placental or umbilical cord clot or something, even though I know the chances are small. I don't want to hemorrhage after giving birth, though, either.

I'm thinking of stopping around 37 weeks or so. Any advice? I haven't asked my midwives about it because it has kind of slid under their radar that I'm still on it. I can't find much actual research on it.

I didn't take baby aspirin. I would probably ask your midwife just to be safe.

I'm on baby aspirin for MTHFR and my high risk doctor, OB, and cardiologist all want me off of it once I hit the second trimester. They're also planning on taking me off my progesterone and extra folic acid too. I am scared to death, and have seriously thought about continuing at least the folic acid and baby aspirin and just not telling them. Sorry, I'm no help.

I'm on it because my Lupus anti-coagulant (I think that's what it is) was high. My doctor told me to take it and I was never told about when I would stop it. I'm going to keep taking it until I'm told otherwise. I will have to say though that there's not one part of me that will want to stop taking it. It will cause me a lot of "what ifs" for sure...

I am on it for Lupus Anticoagulant as well, but I was told to continue on until after delivery. I would ask you m/w to be 100% sure what is best in your case.

Thanks for all the advice, ladies.

My midwives don't really have a lot of experience with this because they don't do high risk, and so they can only do the research on it that I can do myself. There honestly aren't any scientific studies on it (I did a PubMed search and while there are tons of studies on using aspirin for various pregnancy disorders, I could not find one study on when the risks begin to outweigh the benefits at a certain stage in pregnancy). Therefore, when to stop seems to be based more on anecdotal evidence, and who would have more anecdotal evidence than high risk docs and their patients? That's why I asked you guys what you've been told to do by your specialists, just to get an idea of what the majority of ladies on aspirin are being told to do. From what I'm getting from here and from researching around the web, it sounds like a common recommendation is 36 weeks.
