So, I had my ultrasound this morning. The baby measured right on target and the heartbeat was 168 bpm. So, I am happy that everything is still looking good, but part of me is still cynical because we had a heartbeat last time and it obviously guarantees nothing. Still, it's progress.

I met with the RE afterwards and she said the rate of miscarriage is still 12-15% even after seeing a heartbeat. I thought it was 2%, but I am not a doctor.

So, now I need to find an OB because I don't like the other guy I ended up with last time. The doctor made it sound like I would get another ultrasound at 12 weeks, but I have no idea.

Glad you had a good u/s!! It's hard not to worry, I felt like you did. My OB also told me that once there was a heartbeat the miscarriage rate was something like 2-3%...who knows, either way it didn't make me feel any better because our angel baby had a heartbeat too and we still lost it so....that wasn't really reassuring to me anwyays!

Gotta love how doctors reassure you so much

Glad that you have a gorgeous heartrate, a growing beanie, and that things are progressing right on track

Hope you find a doc who you love.

Is 168 fast? I thought it was average, but I didn't look it up.

Sounds fabulous!!!!

I was confused about the heartbeat thing too early on. And I am a stats nerd so I will tell you what I found. The 2% is for .hearing. the heartbeat on the u/s doppler or a regular doppler, usually possible around 8 wks for the former and 10-14 for the latter. .Seeing. the heartbeat on u/s can happen sooner. Hth, I know you are a facts liker so I thought I would share. It is still a big happy step to see a h/b

That is wonderful that everything is right on track. Try not to think about what could happen and just enjoy that you are pregnant with a healthy baby.
