I lost my first baby due to low progesterone about 6 months ago, I am pregnant again 5w 3d and I have gone to see the Dr. but she doesn't want to put me on progesterone until she tests my levels and she said she needs to wait until I am at least 6w (why I don't know) the only problem with that is that I am going on vacation to Europe on Wednesday and she wants to wait until I get back to do blood work and an ultrasound that will be in 2 1/2 weeks!!! How am I going to be able to enjoy myself not knowing if everything is going to be ok? Has anyone had a successfull pregnancy after miscarring due to low progesterone and not using the supplements?

Just my personal experience - after my 3rd m/c we were with a specialist and he put me on progesterone just as an added precaution the day I got my BFP and even before he got my bloodwork back. So I was just 4 weeks when I went on it and stayed on it until 12 weeks - I would ask them about starting you on it sooner then 6 weeks just because I know I did and it seemed to have helped me. With my other pregnancies, my levels were checked once and not rechecked (I left that dr) so I don't really know if that was a major part of my problem. Good luck to you!

sorry such a late reply, but I was given a prescription for Prometrium and my dr had me start taling it the minute I had a positve pregnancy test, even before I went for my first appt to see him. I was on it until I was 13 weeks and slowly tapered off of it for the next few weeks after that. He never told me anything about testing level first or having to be 6wks along.

When in doubt, ask questions. And remember: there are NO stupid questions!!!!

I think you should get on it sooner than later. I would be a basketcase wondering the whole time on vacation!
